    How to draw the northern lights: create beauty with your own hands. Drawing a polar bear against the background of the northern lights using an unconventional technique

    The most beautiful natural phenomena that attract a person's eyes include northern Lights... This colored "curtain", created by the Earth, the Sun and the air, has a bewitching effect, plunges a person into a state of aesthetic trance, bewitched. Most people are unable to see it with their own eyes. Therefore, we suggest you draw the northern lights yourself and be able to admire them whenever you want.

    How to draw the northern lights with a pencil step by step?

    Perhaps the most painstaking way to depict the northern lights is to draw with pencils, since you have to do a lot and evenly hatch. You can also draw the Northern Lights with a simple pencil. In this case, the entire emphasis will be based on the intensity of the shade of gray, with the help of which it will be possible to visually capture the color transition. How to draw the northern lights with a pencil step by step in color, see below.

    1. The northern lights are composed of zigzag or smoother wavy lines of different colors - from shades of blue to red. In this case, the dark background of the sky is of great importance, on which the radiance stands out.
    2. First, you should draw the main lines of the radiance with any of the chosen colors. Usually it is blue, blue or turquoise. The lines should be long and go in one direction you choose, for example, from the center to the upper right corner.
    3. Next, gradually add lines of other colors: yellow, green, orange. It is better to change the intensity of the color by applying more force to the pencil. This will create the effect of transfusion and a smooth transition of shades.
    4. The main part of the sheet will be the sky. To do this, it should be carefully shaded in dark blue or black. It is important that the edges of the northern lights stand out against the sky in lighter tones.

    How to paint the northern lights with oil

    Before you can paint the northern lights with oil, you need to collect necessary materials and tools: oil paints, canvas, paint thinner, brushes, palette. Since the oil is distinguished by its dense texture, it is better to carry out all manipulations with mixing colors and finding the desired shade on the palette. So, a version of the image of the northern lights using oil paints:

    • mix white and green colors on the palette until light green or turquoise (with the addition of blue);
    • with the resulting shade, depict the required position of the northern lights on the canvas, it is better to do this with hatched lines;
    • mix dark blue, cyan and green until a very dark indigo is obtained and shade the upper part of the sky with it;
    • gradually lightening the color to blue and light purple, fill the middle and lower part of the sky with them;
    • mix a light green shade with white and mark the center of the northern lights - you should get its shining part;
    • with a dry brush, shade the borders of the northern lights - they should smoothly transition into the tone of the sky;
    • to create the effect of color diffusion, shade the lower part of the northern lights with vertical short strokes;
    • the lower glow is drawn with a mixture of white and yellow, the deepening of the radiance is purple, the light highlights are white;
    • at the end, white paint is sprayed on the entire canvas in small drops to depict stars.

    How to draw the northern lights in watercolor step by step?

    It is easier to depict the northern seeding with watercolors than with other methods. After all, they allow you to make the smoothest transition between colors and achieve the desired shades. Next - how to draw the northern lights in watercolor. Stages:

    • the work will be carried out on a black or dark blue sheet of paper; if this is not the case, a regular sheet must be tinted with the appropriate color and allowed to dry;
    • with smooth movements, without taking your hands off the drawing, draw the lines of the northern lights with the main color (blue, azure or blue);
    • in the same way, gradually add other colors for the northern lights (yellow, green, red, white), and it is desirable that the transition between shades is smooth - for this, the paint at the joints can be more abundantly diluted with water;
    • shade with a mixture of the main color with the white edge of the northern lights.

    Before drawing the northern lights, it is better to get a photograph and a picture that will depict the desired drawing. After all, this phenomenon can be more or less colorful, include additional elements (stars, horizon) or not.

    To work with watercolors, you can take foam sponges, with which it is convenient to shade the color or fill the main part of the sheet with a shade. It's also much faster and smoother.

    To paint the stars, you can use a regular, unnecessary toothbrush that will distribute the paint in separate thin drops.

    And finally: before drawing the northern lights, you should decide on the place where it is better to put the picture. An ideal option would be a zone designed for reflection (office, for example) or psychological relief. Such a drawing will contribute to this.

    Working process.

    The Northern Lights are a mystical, unpredictable and beautiful heavenly glow that suddenly appears and just as suddenly disappears.

    This spectacle is breathtaking and can last from ten minutes to several days.

    In an instant, running colored rays and stripes appear, or a multicolored pulsing curtain flashes across the entire sky from east to west.

    Long ago, people believed that the play of colors in heaven was nothing more than the dance of the gods. Some tribes saw malevolence in this phenomenon, and even took weapons for protection if they had to go outside.
    We will paint polar bear, Umka's mother, who is going to look for a little bear cub against the background of the polar lights.
    The sheet must be positioned vertically. We leave the upper part of the leaf for the aurora. In the lower part, at a distance of 2.5 - 3 centimeters from the edge, draw a line of the foreground and draw a bear in the center.

    Next, we wet the sheet with water, without touching the foreground, and apply yellow watercolor paint.

    Then, in a vertical motion, add paint in blue, purple, green and purple colors.

    While the leaf has not yet dried, sprinkle it with coarse salt.

    The salt will give the work "frosty" patterns.

    Vertical strokes can here and there enhance the expressiveness of our polar lights.

    Next, we proceed to prescribe the first plan. The top border needs to be left white, this will create space and prevent unnecessary paint from flowing into the foreground.

    Introduce blue paint at the bottom edge, slightly blur it. Add yellow color. For the foreground, two or three colors will be enough, do not overdo it.

    When the background dries up, you can start prescribing the bear. It will be blue. Apply blue paint along the contour of the bear and blur it towards the center. It is necessary that the contour is soft. The far legs are completely covered in blue.

    Draw the near legs with black and purple paint, draw a black circle around the nose, mouth, eye and ear.

    Here's a mother bear turned out.
    The work is ready! We make out in a frame.

    Thanks for your attention!

    To create such a picture you will need:

    - brush (column or squirrel) - thicker and thinner;

    - a sheet of watercolor paper;

    - masking tape;

    - tablet or thick board (cardboard);

    - a set of watercolors;

    - masking liquid (optional) + metal stick, knitting needle, hook;

    - white acrylic;

    - pure water.

    You can watch the whole drawing process with my comments in the video added at the end of this master class.

    1. We attach the paper to the tablet (in my case, a piece of fiberboard) using masking tape.

    2. With the help of a metal stick we make a spray that will represent the stars. If there is no masker, we will make the stars at the end of the work using acrylic (see video).

    3. Turning the leaf over, make a stretch for the sky, and then add streaks of radiance - yellow and green watercolor.

    4. After the sky has dried, turn the sheet over and draw snow:

    5. Remove the masking fluid and spray with a toothbrush or bristle brush + white acrylic:

    6. Work out the trees with a thin brush.

    7. Remove the scotch tape and admire the northern lights 🙂

    And the video process with all the subtleties 🙂

    The Northern Lights (aurora borealis) are a strikingly beautiful phenomenon that can be seen in dark skies. It is also called "Aurora" (Aurora Borealis). It represents a glow in those layers of the atosphere, which are called the thermosphere.

    The sky is painted with glowing stripes, swirls, circles.

    You can draw in different ways: with pencils, watercolors, a sponge with paint, blurring the boundaries between the stripes in a gradient.

    It is important to show transitions on a dark background, how dark turns into blue, green colors.

    See how good it is to paint the northern lights in watercolor. First, the artist shows a dark background, draws circles with different colors of paints, later he shows the silhouettes of trees. With the help of dilution with water, it is possible to show the blur well, which is convenient when painting with watercolors.

    You can draw the northern lights with foam tampons. First, they make a dark background (black or dark blue), for example, with gouache on landscape leaves using tampons, moistened in paint.

    To make the drawing more accurate, it is convenient to keep a picture in front of your eyes, a photo with the northern lights.

    The tampon can be held in hands or put on a pencil, secured with a thread.

    Lines are drawn one after another at an angle to the horizon, making zigzags, swirls. Having made one line, let the paint dry, then draw another next to the first, repeating all the corners, zigzags, circles.

    Draw lines of green, blue, red and white next to each other, some single lines.

    See how the drawing is done and commented on english language, although the technique is clearly visible without translation. Begin the drawing with a completely dark background, gradually denoting stripes of brilliance, colors and lines.

    What is aurora (northern) lights?
    The polar lights are a beautiful and mesmerizing natural phenomenon. It looks like multi-colored stripes in the sky, huge iridescent curtains or rainbow ribbons. They can be several hundred in width and several thousand kilometers in length. The aurora appears at an altitude of over 80-100 kilometers. And although this is an earthly phenomenon, it is caused by the processes occurring on the Sun. The so-called solar wind constantly "blows" on our planet. It is made up of charged particles that are emitted from the solar corona. We see them.

    Introduction:

    The ability to hatch, smoothly and accurately color drawings seems simple. What is it about him? Much more important is probably the ability to depict houses, people and animals, and make interesting decorative compositions. But this is not the case. More precisely, not quite so.
    Shading makes the hand of a young artist strong, develops fine motor skills, and shading in the shape of an object allows you to show its authentic, and not "crumpled" appearance. Careless, messy shading only spoils the drawing. It needs to be streamlined.
    However, learning hatching on a blank slate is boring. The Northern Lights image is much more interesting!

    Working process:

    1
    Draw an arbitrary horizon line. Knowing that a snow fortress or a snow queen's castle will be located on it, we make part of the line more even.

    2
    We draw distant mountains. Shade them tightly with blue.

    3
    If this is a royal castle, then it will resemble Gothic cathedrals. Each roof or tower is like an inverted icicle. Doors, windows, architectural details, each young artist invents himself. I advise children to close their eyes and imagine a castle. Precisely to imagine, not to recall a drawing from a book or a frame from a cartoon.
    The teacher draws with the children, but the children do not repeat after him

    4
    The most interesting moment comes. You can turn the sheet (it will become a little easier to hatch), or you can not turn it over.
    The colors are juicy, bright. More often than others, emerald hues can be discerned in the atmosphere. The felt-tip pen leads one endless line, shading the sky with a zigzag. The strip can change its width and direction, "walk" across the sky. But it should be dense enough, not "leaky". You can pre-practice to draw such lines - snakes at an easel or on a draft.

    5
    The next color "runs just above or below the first line." It easily runs into the first color, narrows or expands, sways like a light curtain.

    6
    The next color can be more saturated in tone or paler. Children choose colors at random. The whole range can be used. These are blue, blue, purple shades. From warm colors, choose scarlet, pink, red or orange.

    7
    Shading at the very ground or at the edge of the sheet, we put a sheet of thick paper or cardboard so as not to run over the image. You can just put your finger on the "barrier" of the felt-tip pen.

    8
    When the entire surface of the sky has sparkled with bright colors, you can somewhere enhance the contrast or weaken it.

    9
    Now you can take the foreground. Let's draw several trees on it. For example, pine trees. Let's choose the darkest felt-tip pen for this. First, of course, draw the trunks.

    10
    We finish drawing branches, twigs, needles.

    11
    Now we draw snowdrifts. Closer to the viewer they are more, further - less.

    12
    For the last step, you can use a soft brush and water. The marker is fairly easy to blur. At the same time, the northern lights become more blurry and light.

    SECOND OPTION - COLORED PENCILS

    "Snow Fortress"
    You can also use colored pencils when depicting the northern lights. At the same time, the color is more muted, soft and calm. Shadows from snowdrifts are drawn with pencils easily, without pressure. But drawing the radiance itself without pressure is perhaps impossible. The magic multicolor pencil, however, did not help much. All its shades with strong pressure merged into a gray mass.
    In this version, instead of pines, we will draw a fluffy spruce.

    Children's works:
    (senior group)

      The Northern Lights are so diverse that there is no single template for how to draw it. Pictures like this really give the artist self-expression.

      Northern lights can be in the form of stripes, spots, ribbons. The brightness of light when shining also differs depending on solar activity. Sometimes the aurora is like Milky Way, sometimes on a full moon.

      Drawing, of course, is easier with paints, strokes.

      The Northern Lights, this is a delightfully beautiful natural phenomenon, you can paint with watercolors, pencils, gouache, wax crayons, about oil painting, and I don’t say, this is for artists.

      If you are going to paint the northern lights with watercolor, it is important not to forget that when working with it, you do not need to apply more than three layers.

      The Northern Lights can be depicted using wax crayons, this, in my opinion, the best way for beginners and inexperienced artists. First, slightly barely pressing simple pencils, draw the boundaries of the cascades of radiance, and then draw inside them with crayons (white, green, blue, yellow). Shade widely with crayons so that the colors mix, overlay one color on top of another without lifting the crayon off the paper. You can rub the strokes with your finger, draw strokes from the bottom up.

      For clarity, you can take photographs or images of the northern lights.

      In the figure, the northern lights are depicted as a kind of multi-colored cloud far from the earth, merging with the horizon. When drawing it, the cloud must be blurred, with no pronounced features, since the radiance itself vibrates.

      Therefore, the drawing should have the following steps:

      1. First, draw the background of the sky itself, it should be blue with a transition from blue on top to light blue on the bottom.
      2. Next, you should apply the paint of the radiance itself. It is better to take two colors, do not abuse the number of colors, because then the radiance will turn out to be fabulous. Free-form paint is applied with a blurry effect.
      3. When the radiance itself has already been painted, you need to blur the transition between the radiance and the sky itself.
      4. In the last place, the landscape is applied, which should be clearly visible and stand in the foreground.
    • I lived in the North and saw the northern lights. And since in the USSR it was necessary to produce wall newspapers at work, then drawing the northern lights is also a well-promoted brand, well, how can it be without it?

      I’ll say that it’s forbidden to draw like that, in the art school they scold me for it. But if you need it quickly and for yourself or a poster, you can try, and then you look and start right.

      First, paint the landscape, animals and all the bottom in watercolors. Then the dark sky, but with one stroke - so that the entire surface of the sky does not dry out in pieces, but all at once was wet. Add some bright spots of color right on top of the wet sky: crimson, yellow, green. And then the forbidden trick - with a cotton pad, quickly pass over the paper, make light folds and zigzags. And then blot the entire drawing with a napkin or toilet paper.

      After the napkin, the whole sky will become lighter, and where they passed with cotton wool - generally a white trace. If you want to lighten somewhere else, wet it with clean water and blot it again with a napkin.

      It will turn out just like in this photo.

      The Northern Lights are one of the most beautiful natural phenomena. Not everyone managed to see this beauty live. But often we could look at paintings that depicted the northern lights.

      Let's try to draw it and we. For this we will use watercolor.

      For drawing we need

      We attach a sheet of paper to the tablet with masking tape.

      Using a brush, make splashes of white. These will be our stars. If the splashes do not work, then paint the stars with acrylic paint at the end of the work.

      At the top of the picture, we make a stretch for the sky, adding streaks of yellow, green and blue. After painting the sky, we need to flip the sheet over to let the paint drip.

      To draw snow, turn the sheet of paper back over and draw snow in white and blue colors. Draw trees with a thin brush.

      What a miracle of nature northern Lights. As you look at the pictures, you can see that it can take on different shapes, bright colors. There are such photos, northern lights

      How to draw the northern lights, paints, you can watch the video

      The Northern Lights are truly a miracle of nature. It can be of different colors and shapes. Here is a photo of the northern lights:

      I want to tell you how you can paint the northern lights in watercolor. First, we make the background blue. After that, drop a few drops of colors such as pink, blue, green and lightly mix these colors with a wet brush. There are no clear boundaries, so color mixing should be chaotic.

      The Northern Lights are a very beautiful natural phenomenon. And it encourages many to depict him in the picture.

      Alternatively, the northern lights can be depicted like this:

      Or you can draw a gradient using this technique. On a wide brush, apply paints of different colors, alternating with the color of the sky (dark blue), draw with this brush over the drawing, creating curls. Then, with a clean brush, stretch the paint slightly upward.

      This is how you can draw, for example, this image of the northern lights:

      I have never seen the northern lights live, only in pictures :) So what does it look like?

      Or like this:

      But since I do not know how to draw it with a pencil, I propose here such a master class on drawing in the Paint program. It turns out this is the northern lights, but how to draw it

      Look at how the drawing is done and commented on in English, although the technique is clearly visible without translation. Begin the drawing with a completely dark background, gradually denoting stripes of brilliance, colors and lines.

      You can try to draw this northern lights, the video also shows everything in detail.
