    The night light of their clothespins

    Night light made of wood

    You can make a more organic version of a night lamp out of wood with your own hands.

    To make it, you need a minimum set of tools:

    Underwater rocks

    Practice history : the manufacturer indicates the output voltage of 5V and the current of 1A on the charger case (may differ). When I made a night light for myself, I calculated the resistors for the LEDs for this voltage.

    How to make a night light with your own hands: the best ideas for handmade

    The night light practically stopped shining after 2 nights. The LEDs dimmed, and the lamp shade was always warm ...

    In addition, I initially, by mistake, soldered resistors with a value slightly less than the required 100 Ohm. I wondered why the LEDs were degrading and I measured the voltage. The charger gave out as many as 7 kopecks volts. Naturally, the LEDs were powered by a current twice the nominal.

    DIY LED night light

    How to make an LED sakura tree with your own hands. Very simple. Homemade LED tree

    Hundreds of variants of various nightlights are sold on the Internet, some of them are completely ordinary and do not surprise at all, others are brighter. You can just buy it, or you can make a night light out of LEDs with your own hands.

    The night light of their clothespins

    We will start with a simple option and make a wooden nightlight with our own hands. A distinctive feature of this night light design is that there is almost no need for woodworking tools. We need:
    How to make a bubble lamp with your own hands

    Wooden clothespins for linen; glue;

    For assembly electrical circuit:

    Condenser (we will calculate); resistors R1 - 1 MΩ, R2 - we will select; wire cross-section from 0.75 sq.mm .; fork; LEDs or LED strip.

    First you need to disassemble the wooden clothespin, for this you need to bend the spring and separate the wooden halves.

    From the obtained pieces of wood, you need to fold any shape that you like, below you will see different options for such nightlights.

    All this can be easily connected with a hot glue gun or regular PVA glue.

    Depending on your idea, you can make any number of "floors" from these triangles. Here is an example of the implementation of such a night light on a multicolor LED strip.

    A tube of suitable diameter was placed in the middle, pasted over with LED tape. If you do not want to spend money on LED strip, power supply, RGB controller - collect everything yourself. Use a simple and cheap LED night light circuit powered by 220V.

    This circuit is called: "LED power supply circuit with a quenching (ballast) capacitor". Our website has a detailed article on how to calculate a capacitor. The cost of such an assembly is minimal, and often you can find all the necessary components by disassembling several energy-saving lamps.

    Resistor R1 is parallel to the capacitor, it has a sufficiently large resistance and does not affect the operation of the circuit. It discharges the capacitor when the night light is off, protecting you from electric shock. R2 is an optional element, it will help you more accurately select the LED current. I recommend starting its selection from a value of 1kOhm, measuring the current value of the LEDs to make a decision to change it.

    Here is another interesting solution for making a night light using clothespins.

    Night light made of wood

    You can make a more organic version of a night lamp out of wood with your own hands. To make it, you need a minimum set of tools:

    Sawing tool (hacksaw, grinder with a disc for wood or any other device); drill; thick drill or crown for drilling, at least 20 mm in diameter.

    To make such a beautiful night light, you need a log, choose the diameter by yourself. In the rounds in the center, drill a hole with a diameter of at least 20 mm. More is possible, it depends on the light source you will be using.

    In the center you need to insert a supporting bar, which acts as a frame. Attach wooden washers to it with any in an accessible way... You can use the same "PVA" or "Moment Joiner".

    As you can see, the carrier part is flat, this is necessary so that you can place LEDs or tape on it. Both options will fit here, and the option of LEDs with a quenching capacitor will be more cost-effective.

    It is easier to make an LED night light with your own hands from one separate ring. The hole diameter must be increased to 70-150mm. Next, make two cuts under the diode tape with a cutting disc on a drill. Next, we clean the recess with a chisel and glue the LED strip there. Here you can use ready-made tape solutions with a power supply.

    Plywood LED night light

    Plywood is a natural material that is easy to process. You can make any kind of LED night light from it. In order to work with plywood, you need to have a few tools and materials:

    Jigsaw and drill; glue, carnations; materials for marking;

    To make such a home zoo, you need to find any template, print it on paper and cut it along the outline.

    Here's a template I found on the Internet for the query "cat vector". You will be offered a wide variety of vector images of kittens or any other animals of your choice.

    When you have cut the piece of plywood, the next step is to place the LED strip on the back. Try to place the light source closer to the center of the shape so that the light comes out evenly. Take care of fixing the night light.

    In order to achieve the desired lighting, the night light must not be against the wall. To do this, glue / screw a wooden block to the back of our night light and hang it on any fasteners like these.

    By the way, in the same way you can make a metric out of plywood for your wife or child. Recently, they have been in demand by DIYers.

    Here are more sophisticated ideas for layered plywood lampshades for downlights and nightlights. Their manufacture is similar, but with proper dimensions, you can use an LED lamp in them.

    Do not use incandescent bulbs in wood, plywood or paper fixtures. Due to the high heating temperature of the lamps, this can be a fire hazard.

    We use the old power supply for the night light

    Nowadays so many mobile phones pass through the hands of every family member that you can easily find a couple of different chargers. You can make a LED night light with your own hands. Such a circuit would be much better than a capacitor one:

    Ready-made case with a plug for connection to the network; galvanic isolation from the network - there will be no high-voltage potential at the capacitor terminals; stabilized values \u200b\u200bof output voltage and current.

    Underwater rocks

    Practice history : the manufacturer indicates the output voltage of 5V and the current of 1A on the charger case (may differ). When I made a night light for myself, I calculated the resistors for the LEDs for this voltage. The night light practically stopped shining after 2 nights. The LEDs dimmed, and the lamp shade was always warm ...

    In addition, I initially, by mistake, soldered resistors with a nominal value slightly less than the required 100 Ohm. I wondered why the LEDs were degrading and I measured the voltage.

    How to make a night light lamp with your own hands - Do it yourself, master classes

    The charger gave out as many as 7 kopecks volts. Naturally, the LEDs were powered by a current twice the nominal.

    Moral: do not believe what is written, but check the voltage and current of the LEDs with a multimeter.

    Look at the diagram of the LED night light from the mobile charger.

    To correctly assemble the circuit, select resistors that match the voltage of your charger and LEDs, in more detail how to choose a resistor. But be careful and do not repeat other people's mistakes, an incorrectly set current will kill the LED.

    As a result, you can get a similar LED night light. If desired, you can hide the diodes with a diffuser from a broken LED lamp.

    More information on how to make a night light from LEDs and a smartphone charger is described in the video.

    Many phones come with chargers with USB connector... You can buy ready-made LED modules in USB stick format and get a simple LED night light. True, you will not get the pleasure of designing, developing and assembling an individual night light.

    A night light is the simplest and most harmless device that you can do yourself. On the other hand, its simplicity and lack of requirements for brightness make it possible to turn a simple and ordinary thing into a real work of art.

    At the same time, you can implement many ideas, such as iridescent colors on RGB tape, or turning on a night light on cotton or depending on the level of illumination. See the diagram of the LED acoustic switch.

    The circuit is pretty interesting to build. As a microphone, a microphone from a headset of a mobile phone or computer is suitable, common Soviet transistors - KT315G reverse conduction, and KT3107B - direct, can be replaced by any analogs.

    Resistor R3 sets the operating point of the transistor and, accordingly, the sensitivity of the circuit. Transistor VT2 is the second stage of the amplifier, and capacitor C2 is electrolytic, pay attention to this.

    DIY LED night light

    Today the market is packed with all kinds of nightlights from Chinese manufacturers. There are mainly three types of bedside lamps.

    1) Night lamps with incandescent bulbs

    2) Night lamps with discharge (neon, etc.) lamps

    3) LED night lights

    The first two have a number of disadvantages, but LED night lamps are devoid of all disadvantages, they can work for years and consume a small amount of electricity.

    But the night light is powered by a 220 Volt household network, so a power supply is needed that can power the LED chain used in the night light. Popular bedside lamps with 2, 4 and 8 LEDs.

    Author's LED night lamps made of wood

    Almost all nightlights use a transformerless power supply circuit; in rare cases, only one limiting resistor can be found inside the nightlight.

    The transformerless circuit consists of a capacitor and a diode rectifier, sometimes the capacitor is shunted with a high-resistance resistor, which discharges the capacitance after the night light is turned off.

    The nominal output current of the circuit depends only on the capacitance of the capacitor, for example - 1 μF of the capacitance is able to provide an output current of 70-75mA of current at the output of the power supply. This circuit is also used in Chinese LED flashlights to charge the built-in lead-helium battery. Recently, power supplies for alarms and industrial security devices are being assembled in a similar way. The unit is quite economical, it is not afraid of a short circuit at the output, it works stably, it does not overheat even after a very long operation under load.

    The diodes in the circuit are high-voltage, with a reverse voltage of at least 400 volts. The common semiconductor diodes of the 1N4007 series are excellent, with a reverse voltage of 1000 volts at a current of 1 ampere.

    The capacitor is a film capacitor with a minimum operating voltage of 250 volts, if any, then 400 is better.

    Zener diode - in some circuits, it is replaced by a conventional resistor, which provides the desired voltage drop. The Zener diode is selected based on the number of LEDs used. In the circuit, all LEDs are connected in series. For example, if 4 LEDs are used, then their nominal operating voltage is 4X3.3 Volts, therefore a Zener diode is needed for 12-14 Volts. It is advisable to use stabilizers with a power of 1 watt.

    Such a night light can work without hindrance for hours or even days.

    LED "night light"

    Radio engineering for beginners

    A. BUTOV, p. Kurba, Yaroslavl region
    Radio, 2003, No. 3

    Modern ultra-bright white LEDs make it possible to assemble a "night light" - a compact device for soft night lighting in the room.

    HOW TO MAKE A NIGHT LIGHT

    Since this design does not contain incandescent lamps, it is not afraid of drops, voltage surges and other nuances inherent in devices with incandescent lamps.

    Scheme and appearance of the LED "night light"

    When the night light is switched on to the network (via the XP1 plug), the supply voltage, the excess of which is extinguished by the capacitor C1, flows through the protective resistor R1 to the diode bridge VD1. The rectified voltage is stabilized by a Zener diode VD2 and fed through resistors R3 and R4 to a chain of series-connected LEDs HL1-HL4. When the position of the variable resistor R3 slider is extreme left according to the diagram, they shine most brightly. In this mode, a current of 25 mA flows through the LEDs, their brightness exceeds 5500 mCd, and the forward voltage across each LED is 3.2 V.

    Since the level of illumination created by the four LEDs can be excessive, it is reduced by the variable resistor R3, reducing the current through the LEDs to 1 ... 3 mA. Resistor R2 discharges the quenching capacitor C1 after power off.

    Resistor R1 - safety non-flammable, type P1-25. It can be replaced with a burst imported P1-7 or, in extreme cases, a conventional metal-film MLT-0.5 can be installed. Resistors R2, R4 - MSH C1-4, C2-23, variable R3 - small-sized, preferably wire-wound PPB-1A or more common SP-1, SPZ-33, SP4-4. It is also permissible to use an SPZ-4 resistor, combined with a switch, both groups of contacts of which are connected in parallel and included in the break of one of the mains wires.

    Capacitor - K73-17, K73-24B, K73-16 for an operating voltage of at least 400 V. A special imported capacitor is also suitable, designed to work in an alternating current circuit at a voltage of 220 V, which can be recognized by the abundance of inscriptions on its case, for example , CPF 250V X2.

    Instead of a diode bridge KTs422G, KTs407A, DB104-DB107, RB154-RB157 are suitable. The bridge can be assembled from four diodes, for example, KD105B, KD209A, KD221V, KD247G, 1N4004. With the LEDs indicated in the diagram, the KS515A zener diode can be replaced with D815ZH, KS518A or two series connected D814A, KS126L, KS482A, 1N4738A. When using LEDs with a high operating forward voltage or installing a larger number of LEDs, the zener diode must be with a high stabilization voltage at a current of 25 mA, for example, D816A-D816V. Since film capacitors have a small variation in capacitance, by selecting resistor R4 it will be possible to set the current through the LEDs 20 ... 22 mA at zero resistance of the resistor R3 and mains voltage 220 V.

    The details of the night light are mounted in a homemade case glued from polystyrene. The plug-in block for connection to the mains is removed from the faulty molded non-separable plug or mains "adapter". A handle made of insulating material is put on the shaft of the variable resistor, which must be shortened. If you do not need to adjust the brightness, the variable resistor is excluded.

    The night light can be made more spectacular and brighter if, in addition to the white LEDs, super-bright reds are included in series with them. for example, L1503SRC / F, the brightness of which at a current of 20 mA reaches 4000 mCd.

    ATTENTION! The structure does not have a galvanic isolation from the lighting network, therefore, safety rules must be observed when designing, setting up and operating it

Then the night light will not only give light, but also warm with its warmth thanks to the fact that it was made with love and tenderness.

    Night light Starry sky

    In order to make a night light with your own hands, you only need an assistant

    material that can be found in every apartment. One of the advantages of this luminaire is that it does not require a network connection. You can enjoy the starry sky from the comfort of your home thanks to a small flashlight powered by pinky batteries.

    So, you will need: a glass jar with a screw cap, heavy foil, an awl, scissors, a tray (or any hard surface that is not afraid of scratches), a small flashlight.

    Step 1. Take a sheet of foil and draw a diagram of the starry sky on it. If you want an exact copy, then you have to work hard. You can do this schematically, from memory.

    Step 2. Put the sheet with the drawn diagram on a hard surface and use the awl to make holes. These will be our stars.

    Step 3. Cut off all excess from the foil. The height of the sheet should be equal to the height of the can. Gently roll up the sheet with a tube and insert it into the prepared jar.

    Step 4. Put the flashlight on the bottom of the can and turn it on.

    It remains only to wait for the night and enjoy the picture of the starry sky.

    Lace night light

    Making a do-it-yourself night light for the bedroom is easy. It will be beautiful
    lamp using lace.

    For manufacturing you will need: some lace fabric, a clean jar, scissors and thread, a battery-powered flashlight.

    Step 1. Take a clean and dry jar, wrap it with lace, it should not overlap, protrude beyond the edges of the jar. Cut off any excess.

    Step 2. Sew the edges of the lace to form a sleeve. This can be done either with a typewriter or manually.

    Step 3. Slip the resulting sleeve over the jar.

    Step 4. Put the flashlight in the jar and screw the cap back on.

    You can make such a night light with your own hands in a matter of minutes, and its light will bring romance to your interior.

    Night light with butterflies

    Another option for a romantic dinner is a butterfly night light.

    To make it, you will need: wire (about 50 cm), 2 sheets of white paper, a bank, an ordinary flat candle, butterfly stencils.

    Do-it-yourself unusual night light made of matches on LED

    We cut out several butterflies according to stencils (6-7 pieces) from white paper. We roll up the second sheet with a tube and decorate the edges beautifully (curly cutting).

    Step 2. Glue the butterflies on the resulting tube in random order, leaving 2 pieces for the next step.

    Step 3. Take the wire, wrap the jar with it 1 time, and then bend it so that you get a semicircle over the jar itself. We tie the remaining 2 butterflies to the resulting bend using a thread.

    Step 4. Place a jar inside our straw with glued butterflies.

    Step 5. Put a lit candle in the jar and enjoy the magnificent picture.

    Night light for a child

    Making a children's night light with your own hands is also quite simple, the main thing is to show your imagination. For those who wish to please their baby, the next homemade option.

    You will need: a round shade or a glass ball, a flashlight (or better, a Christmas garland), a lot of tulle or tulle, glue and patience.

    Step 1. Take tulle and cut a lot of circles.

    Step 2. Take the plafond, it must be clean and dry. Next, take a circle of tulle one at a time and fold it in the shape of a rose (we take it by the middle, lifting the edges up - your rose is ready). With the help of glue, we fix the tulle on the plafond, gluing it only with the middle. This will create a fluffy ball.

    We hide a garland or a flashlight inside the plafond, and demonstrate beautiful magic to the child. The kid will be delighted and happy to fall asleep in the light of such a night lamp.

    Having made a night light with your own hands (photos of the master classes describe the whole process in sufficient detail), you will transform not only the children's room, but also the bedroom.

    Merry night light in 5 minutes

    For connoisseurs of creativity and just fun people, this option is perfect.

    How to make a night light using only available tools is described above. To make a fun craft, you will need not only a glass jar, but also fluorescent paint that glows in the dark. The more colors you use, the more fun it will turn out, but if you have imagination, you can get by with a minimum.

    So, take a can, a brush and paint. We draw everything that comes to mind on the inside of the can. During the day, the paint will accumulate light, and in the dark, you can see what you painted on the can. This view will always delight you, giving only positive emotions.

    DIY night light

    The mysterious abyss of the black night sky with myriads of bright stars has attracted humanity since ancient times. It is not surprising that the theme of the starry sky remains relevant today - in clothing and textiles, design and interiors of premises, in jewelry and on dishes. Luminaires - projectors of the starry sky, which create an excellent imitation of the night sky, have gained particular popularity recently.

    They will equally well "take root" in the nursery, creating the twilight necessary for many children, and in the "adult" bedroom, where they will create a romantic atmosphere. But the most interesting thing is that such an original night light can be made with your own hands from improvised material. And we offer you a choice of three such methods.

    Night light "Starry sky" from a tin can

    It's so simple, but beautiful!

    Night light "Starry sky" from a can and foil

    Another way to make a do-it-yourself night light a la a starry sky projector will require the following materials:

    Glass jar with screw cap. It is better to choose a jar not "pot-bellied" so that the difference in the diameter of the neck and the bottom is smaller

    Foil (dense)

    Scissors

    Lamp or flashlight.

    Now let's move on to manufacturing:

    1. measure the height and diameter of the neck of the can and cut out a rectangle from the foil of the required size. Rolled up by a tube, it will act as a projector grid. When measuring the dimensions of the foil, do not forget that you will need to pinch it, so leave a small margin around the edges

    2.Now we make holes in the foil with an awl - randomly or according to the patterns of the constellations (your choice), roll it up with a tube, fix the edges and insert it carefully into the jar

    Here is our improvised Starry Sky lamp ready! Slightly falls short, of course, to its Chinese counterpart, but "hand-made"!

    LED night light and banks

    DIY starry sky night light. Master Class.

    You will need:

      Jar with a lid Thick foil Awl Flashlight or lamp Scissors

    Using scissors, cut out a rectangle from thick foil, with which you can line the inner surface of the can. The edges must necessarily converge tightly, so it is better to make a rectangle of foil with a small margin:

    Then we make holes in the foil with an awl.

    The more holes there are, the more stars there will be in your sky!

    We fold the foil rectangle into a tube and fix its edges so that it does not unfold:

    We insert the foil into the jar, and on the bottom we place the switched on lamp or flashlight. And close the jar with a lid:

    And voila! night light Starry sky is ready! Turn off the light and admire what is happening!

    Night table lamps and sconces, in addition to their direct functional purpose, play an important role in the interior design of a room. At the same time, self-made structures will favorably differ from mass samples in their originality.

    We will tell you in detail how to make a night light with your own hands from scrap materials (for example, plywood, disks, paper, nylon, etc.). But before moving on to the design, let's start with the main thing - the electrical circuit of the device.

    Night light scheme options

    If it is planned to install lamps under the E27 or E14 base as light sources in night lamps or sconces, then the standard connection scheme will be used, which is so simple that it does not need an explanation.

    Adjusting the luminous flux level is a rather useful function for a night lamp, an example of the implementation of such a device (dimmer) is shown in the figure.

    Elements used:

    • D1 - DB3 dinistor;
    • D2 - BTA12 trinistor;

    Resistors and capacitor:

    • R1 - 500 kOhm nominal;
    • R2 - 4.7 kOhm, in many similar circuits the power of the resistor is 0.125 W, which leads to overheating, given that this resistance is used as a damping resistance, 2 W is the minimum for it;
    • C - capacity 0.1 mKf 250 V.

    Note that during the implementation of this scheme, the lamp may flicker and jump-like brightness control. This usually indicates a problem with the dinistor. Actually, the scheme is far from perfect and is given as an example of the simplest implementation.

    It should be noted that the lighting level can only be adjusted if an incandescent lamp is used. Considering the power of such a light source, the implementation would be unprofitable. The alternative is LEDs.

    LED circuits

    Making an LED night light with your own hands is not as difficult as it seems, especially since the miniature size of such a source allows you to mount it in almost any beautiful decorative lampshade, for example, a house made of wood. An example of such an execution is shown in the figure.

    The circuitry of an LED luminaire will be a little more complicated than that of an incandescent lamp. An example of such an implementation is shown in the figure.

    The diagram shown in the figure will require the following radio components:

    • D1 - D4 - you can use any rectifier diodes designed for a minimum voltage of 400 V and a current of 400 mA;
    • VD1 - VD4 - any type of super-bright LEDs designed for voltage from 3.0 to 3.6 V;
    • C1 - non-polar capacitor with a capacity of 0.15 μF and a voltage of at least 250 V;
    • C2 - capacitor of electrolytic type 10 μF 50 V;
    • Resistors: R1 with a rating of 680 kOhm, R2 - 560 Ohm.
    • S1 - any switch.

    You can make the night light turn on automatically when the room gets dark. To do this, you will need to slightly complicate the circuit by adding a transistor-based key to it, as shown in the figure.

    Elements added to the diagram:

    • D5 - any Zener diode for 15 V;
    • RF1 - photoresistor, for example, FSK -1;
    • R3 - variable resistor 470 kOhm, adjusts the response threshold;
    • R4 - 2.2 kOhm;
    • VT1 - transistor KT315G or analog.

    Note that for normal operation of the circuit, it is necessary to make sure that the light from the night lamp does not fall on the photoresistor.

    Charger for phone as power supply

    If you still have a charger from your old phone, then it can be adapted to power an LED night light. In this case, only the limiting resistance will need to be supplied, as shown in the figure.

    To calculate the resistance R1, you can use the formula derived from Ohm's law:

    R1 \u003d (U source - U consumption) / I consumption;

    Explanation of the formula:

    U ist - source voltage, at the charger, as a rule, 6 volts;

    U cons - the consumed voltage, for typical LEDs from 2.8 to 3.6 volts, for the calculation it is necessary to take the minimum value, that is, 2.8 V;

    I consumption - current consumption, for one LED about 20 mA, respectively, for three - it will be 60 mA.

    In our case, the resistance R1 \u003d (6 - 2.8) / 0.06 \u003d 53.33, the nearest resistor value is 56 Ohm.

    Sound control night light

    A sound switch for a night light is not so difficult to make with your own hands, an example of such a circuit is shown in the figure. Thanks to this device, you can turn on the night light without leaving your bed. If you install such a device in the room for newborns, then it will turn on the light as soon as the baby begins to cry.

    List of used radio components:

    • resistors: R1 - 5.6 kΩ, R2 - 3.3 MΩ, R3 - 33 kΩ; R4 - 1.8 kOhm, R5 - 47 kOhm, R6 - 330 Ohm, R7 - from 39 to 150 Ohm (depending on the supply voltage, the calculation is performed in the same way as described above for charging the phone);
    • capacitors: C1 -0.1 μF, C2 - 4.7 μF 16 V;
    • VD1-VD3 - any super-bright LEDs with a current consumption of 20 mA and a voltage from 2.8 to 3.6 volts;
    • transistors: VT1 and VT2 - KT315G, VT3 - KT818B (you can use other, similar in characteristics, transistors);
    • MIC is a regular microphone from headphones.

    Note that this device can be used to control devices powered by a 220 volt network. To do this, remove the resistor R7 and the LEDs, replace them with a relay whose coil is connected instead of the LEDs, and install a diode in parallel with the relay, for example, 1N4007 or its equivalent.

    A desk lamp, wall lamp, floor lamp, garlands, LED strips, as well as any household electrical appliances, up to an exhaust hood (for example, you can connect a Treadmill simulator) can be connected to the sound switch.

    After you have chosen a scheme for a night lamp, you can start designing the device, here it all depends on your imagination. Let's show an example of the original performance.

    Starry sky

    A self-made night light projector will project the starry sky onto the walls of the room.

    You can make such an original lampshade for a night lamp from an ordinary can or a plastic bottle.

    For this we need:

    • a plastic bottle (it is better to take a regular glass jar with a volume of 0.5 liters);
    • thick foil;
    • scissors and an awl.

    Manufacturing process:

    1. cut out a rectangle from a piece of foil (so that it, folded into a tube, fits into a jar) and a circle with a diameter equal to the bottom of the jar;
    2. with an awl we pierce holes in the foil that will imitate the stars, you can make several constellations, for example, the Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. To make the constellations better known, cut stretch lines between the stars in the foil;
    3. place the cut out circle on the bottom of the can (glue can be used to fix it);
    4. we put a rectangular piece of foil into the jar so that it completely covers the walls.

    The lampshade for the night light is ready. The electronic circuitry of the device can be placed in a plastic jar lid.

    As you can see, using practically available materials, it is not difficult to make a night light with your own hands. You can come up with your own original and unusual designs, there are no restrictions for imagination.

    Having the skills to work with a jigsaw, you can nicely diversify the interior of your own home with items and furniture of your own manufacture. Non-standard images, spectacular design of handicrafts will add coziness and originality to your home. Trying to get away from standard models, you can make a lamp from plywood.

    Materials, components, tools for work

    To make lamps with your own hands from plywood, you need to worry in advance about the availability of all the necessary materials and tools.

    Required tools:

    • a regular or electric jigsaw;
    • several files for a jigsaw;
    • drill with the necessary drills for it;
    • awl;
    • a hammer;
    • a device for burning.

    The main material for the craft, of course, will be plywood, but of various thicknesses. The base of the product is made of thicker material, and the frame or shade is made of thin, 3-4 mm thick.

    You will also need auxiliary and finishing materials, such as glue, brushes, sandpaper, wood stain, varnish, paint if necessary.

    Since the lamp is not only a decorative element, but also has to fulfill its direct functions, you should choose a suitable filling for it. A master who understands electrical circuits is able to independently make the wiring and connect the lamp. If such skills are absent, it is better to take the ready-made filling of an old or cheap device. For wood products, it is recommended to use LED lamps, which do not provide additional heating.

    Note! In such homemade products, it is strictly forbidden to use incandescent lamps, as they may cause a fire.

    Preparatory process

    It is better for beginner masters to take on crafts that are simpler to perform, and pick up models with less work. Drawings can be made independently for an invented craft, or you can borrow ready-made ones on the Internet or technical literature. It is necessary to have not only a general view of the product, but detailed drawings for every little thing. If there are only schematic images of the plywood lamp you like, we do the drawings with our own hands on a sheet of paper in full size for each component. After that, the sketch is cut out, the parts are compared with each other, if necessary, improvements are made. Finished sketches are transferred directly to the plywood.

    Working with details

    Having transferred all the drawings to plywood, they start cutting out each element. During execution, it is necessary to clearly adhere to the specified lines, because there can be no unimportant elements in the drawings, if you do not take this into account, later, when assembling the product, deviations will turn into alteration or revision of parts.

    Each cut out part is checked against the drawings, after which they begin to process with sandpaper to remove all burrs and notches. The work is carried out in several stages with sandpaper of different abrasiveness. Finishing grinding, performed by "zero" will give a smooth surface.

    The sanded parts are varnished. Possible options for staining or painting with paint. If flaws appear on the surface of the plywood, it must be sanded again and re-varnished. The number of treatments depends on the desired color of the product.

    Assembling homemade products

    Plywood parts are connected between wood glue. You can use casein glue, wood glue. PVA glue is also suitable for gluing, but crafts glued with such glue are not very strong. When applying an adhesive to parts, you do not need to apply a large amount of it, the excess goes beyond the edges of the joints, and will spoil appearance finished product. All nodes are joined according to the sketch, observing the accuracy of the connections and the angles of inclination.

    When the product is glued, it is necessary to give time to dry the finished craft, check the reliability of the connections again. Only after that is the installation of the cartridge, light bulb and power cord performed.

    Choosing a model for handcraft

    Choosing a suitable model for manufacturing, you need to focus on the functional characteristics of the finished craft and your own experience with plywood. You can completely embody the idea yourself into reality by completing preliminary drawings on paper without anyone's help. When sketching, it is necessary to consider the integrity of each element and ensure strength. Severely thin joints and transitions can lead to material cracking during sawing.

    Without experience working with drawings, you can use the experience of other masters in this area. Choosing a suitable plywood lamp as a craft, photos and drawings of finished works will greatly facilitate the preparatory stage.

    Table flashlight

    Simple models

    Any hand-made plywood craft looks exclusive. You don't have to resort to complex techniques and fancy designs. Simple models will also find their way.

    Important! Even in the simplest models of structures, the main thing remains to respect the proportions, otherwise you will have to spend time on flaws.

    Model "Flower"

    The model is suitable for additional lighting and can be performed by an inexperienced beginner. Eight petals are cut out with three circles of a circle with an outer diameter of 6 cm.

    The first circle is the base to which the petals are glued, the inner diameter is equal to the size of the bulb holder, the second is the base of the craft, the third is the back cover.

    Everything is sanded, varnished, then glued. The cartridge is connected.

    Finished craft without a lamp and with it

    Uncomplicated night light model

    The model consists of several elements. The sides are exactly the same and are made one sketch at a time. In addition to the sidewalls, parts of the cover and base are cut out.

    After assembling the structures, everything is thoroughly varnished, after drying, a light bulb and a cord are installed.

    Table lamp

    To make such a masterpiece, details of the plafond, base and holder are needed.

    It remains to collect everything into a finished product

    All sawn-off workpieces are processed with sandpaper. The individual parts are assembled and the entire product is varnished. After the complete assembly of the components, the lamp is connected.

    Complex models

    Openwork and carved plywood lamps require certain skills in working with wood and tools. In this case, ready-made drawings are needed, and it is better to cut out the components with an electric jigsaw or a laser machine.

    Openwork night light

    And schemes for it:

    Laser work

    To work on modern equipment, an optimized drawing of the luminaire for laser cutting on plywood is required.

    The electronic data is entered into the equipment program, and therefore any errors in the drawings cannot be corrected while the machine is running.

    Laser-made models

    A night light is a lighting device used both for its direct functional purpose and as an additional decorative element. It is difficult to overestimate the role of these lamps in shaping the design of a bedroom, rest room. In shops, in the markets of electrical engineering, you can find a variety of models, but all of them in certain aspects will resemble each other. If you want to show imagination and originality, then create a LED night light with your own hands.

    You can make a lighting fixture for decorating a bedroom from scrap materials, including CDs, cardboard or plain paper, nylon threads, plywood sheets, glass or plastic bottles, etc. There are so many options that it will not be possible to fit everything in one article. The emphasis is on LED lamps, so the devices are less energy-intensive and as safe as possible.

    This device is characterized by compactness, simplicity of design, which is associated with the use of a simple electrical circuit. Any person with such a goal can create it on their own. When forming the design, be guided by the interior of the room in which the device will be installed.

    For the production of lighting fixtures, old electrical parts obtained from broken fixtures and even unrelated equipment, including fumigators, mobile phone chargers, electrical plugs, etc. can be used. Tin cans, plastic or glass glasses, children's toys and even syringes (of course, without a needle) can be used to decorate and create a unique shape.

    If you are confident in your strength and want to bring to life an unusual idea, then you may need to purchase more expensive items and parts.

    When assembling the luminaire, pay great attention to electrical and fire safety. If low power LED bulbs are used, the possibility of a short circuit cannot be excluded. The consequences can be especially unpleasant when using lamps in children's rooms. Try to rule out even the most unimaginable and unlikely outcomes.

    Avoid using classic incandescent bulbs or halogen bulbs as they heat up excessively during operation. LEDs are the perfect solution. In addition, they reduce the amount of electricity consumed by 7-8 times and will be economical even with the lighting on for the whole night.

    Of course, you can pick up a low-power incandescent lamp. Using an illustrative example, let's calculate the amount of energy consumed per year for a 25 W incandescent lamp. Suppose the lamp is on for 5-6 hours daily. In this case, in 360-365 days (exactly a year), 55-60 kW will run. The indicator is insignificant, but you can save money. With identical wattage, diode lamps will be much brighter, so if the luminous flux from a 25 W incandescent lamp is enough, then buy a 5 W LED (or less).

    In night light circuits made of fumigators, chargers with voltage drop through resistors, wide and narrow directional LEDs can be used. Choose products with maximum brightness.

    Narrow-beam devices have a limited beam of light aimed only in one direction. This device will look good together with the main light source (for example, a chandelier), while it is imperative to connect the chandelier and night light through a double switch so that you can activate the devices separately.

    Varieties of homemade nightlights

    Below we will consider the most common options for making do-it-yourself night lamps.

    Moon-shaped transistor night light

    To build a lamp, you need an LED strip and two transistors through which the first element is connected. The first transistor will automatically regulate the device due to the incident light, after which it will trigger the second transistor, which directly turns on / off the flex board.

    By adding a resistor to the circuit, you can adjust the sensitivity and threshold with which the transistors are triggered and the backlight comes on.

    As for the design of the night light, before starting work, find a sheet of plywood and cut a circle out of it. The base should resemble the letter "O". Use the printer and print the image of the moon. When everything is done, pick up the drill and drill two holes. One - in the upper part, will serve as a fastening of the night lamp to the wall, the other, in the lower part - will be used to pull the cable.

    Next, glue the lamp base to the plywood circle using special PVA wood glue. You will first have to sand the surfaces, making them perfectly flat and smooth. Be sure to degrease, otherwise the adhesion will be poor. The design as a whole is as simple and straightforward as possible.

    After a few hours (until completely dry) measure a piece of LED strip by placing the board along the edge of the letter "O". Cut off the excess part at the location indicated by the manufacturers (look for the “scissors” image).

    1. Solder wires and LED strip.
    2. Paste the printed moon image onto the plywood circle. Take your time to smooth out any creases. The edges need to be bent, forming a "skirt", which will have to be cut off later.
    3. Wait for the glue to dry.
    4. Drill a hole to install the photocell. Choose a place so that the element matches the pasted image.
    5. Remove the protective layer located on the back of the flex board, then stick the LED strip around the oval. Pass the wire through the pre-drilled hole at the bottom (see above).

    1. This hole must be used to pass the power cable coming from the source (distribution board, socket, etc.).
    2. Use a regular nylon cable tie to bundle the wires together.
    3. The transistor connection diagram can be found on the Internet - it is as simple as possible. Unfortunately, one cannot do without the basics of electrical engineering.
    4. Solder the wires to the photocell and use heat shrink tubing to improve insulation.
    5. Solder the wires from the power cable to the PCB.
    6. It is recommended to fix the board to the luminaire with Velcro or other quick-detachable elements.
    7. Place the photosensor in the pre-drilled hole and fix with adhesive.

    Hang the finished device in the room where you plan to use it, and enjoy the result. Using pulse unit power supply, you will protect yourself and avoid unnecessary expenses: when the night light is off, but the power supply is connected to the network, the latter will practically not consume electricity.

    LED night light from an old electric plug

    Another simple DIY night light is made from an ordinary electric plug. Of course, unlike "porridge from an ax", creating a lamp from one plug will not work, so you need LEDs, two resistor elements, two capacitors, a zener diode and PVC tubes. The latter will be needed to isolate the wires and eliminate short circuits.

    Inspect the plug and remove the grounding pins. Remove the clamp, then grind off the rim on the LED using a file.

    The wiring diagram for electrical elements is similar to the use of a fumigator (a device plugged into a socket with a "tablet" to repel mosquitoes and flies). The device is disassembled, removed a heating element, and an LED is mounted in the free space. The voltage from the power supply is supplied through a capacitor. Excessive voltage acts on the rectifier bridge, a resistance and a capacitor are activated at the output, smoothing the ripple. The mains voltage should be about 400 V.

    In this case, an electrical plug is used instead of a fumigator. The finished scheme is placed inside the plafond, the shape of which can be arbitrary. The plafond is created independently or bought in a store (usually plastic or glass products). You can cut the frame of the night lamp out of wood, covering it with a protective layer of special varnish and impregnation on top, preventing the appearance of fungus or mold and rotting.

    In this case, we are talking about decorating the device. As electronic circuit you can choose any of the options described above. Plywood is a natural and environmentally friendly material, easy to process. With a hand or electric jigsaw, you can easily give it the desired shape.

    In the process of making such a lamp, you may need a jigsaw, drill, glue, nails, a hammer and a pencil or other stationery for marking.

    The finished products are mounted on the wall, and the luminous elements are located between the wall and the plywood sheet of the chosen shape. Cut out a picture of a cat from plywood and hang the finished lamp on the wall. It looks just gorgeous and much more original lighting devices sold in stores.

    To create a "home zoo" of nightlights, you need a template of an animal, stars and other objects, which will have to be printed on a large sheet of paper. Cut it along the contour, acting as carefully as possible. It is desirable to print on a sheet of A3 size, but it can arrange an option on A4 size if a small lamp is being made.

    Place the drawing on the plywood and trace around it with a pencil or marker along the contour. Next, you need to cut out the resulting figure and attach the LED strip to the back. Find the center of the cut shape where you want to attach the board. This will create a night light that shines evenly in all directions. An adhesive layer hidden under a protective film on the back of the LED strip will be enough for fastening.

    Now you need to think about fixing the lamp to the wall. To get the best result and to avoid a situation where the light practically does not go beyond the boundaries of the plywood figure, the night light should not be close to the wall. Glue a wooden block to it or screw it with self-tapping screws and already build a fastening element on it (for example, an "eyelet" for which the device can be hung on a dowel sticking out of the wall).

    Please note that you can cut out several identical figures, make nightlights out of them, but place them at different angles.

    This option involves cutting out a metric from plywood with the name of the child, spouse, etc. If you want a more original lighting fixture, try creating a multi-level plywood fixture by cutting out various shapes and superimposing them on top of each other due to the difference in size. If the size of such a device is large, then instead of an LED strip, it will be rational to use a LED lamp.

    Do not use incandescent lamps or halogens for plywood, wood and paper nightlights. They have an extremely high heating temperature, which increases the level of fire hazard.

    Homemade from a faulty fumigator

    This method was partially described above, but let's take a closer look at it. To make such a night light you will need:

    • fumigator - so that you don't feel sorry for him, take a device that is out of order;
    • two capacitors;
    • resistor;
    • diodes for a rectifier bridge;
    • two white LEDs (although the glow and color temperature are selected individually, in accordance with the preferences of each consumer).

    The sequence of actions is as simple as possible: the body of the fumigator is disassembled, the heating element is removed and LEDs are mounted in its place.

    The principle of operation of the resulting luminaire is as follows: the mains voltage is supplied to the capacitor. The reactive resistance of the device interacts with the excess voltage and goes to a rectifier bridge consisting of KD209 diodes. The voltage output from the rectifier bridge activates the pull-up resistor, while the second capacitor is responsible for smoothing the ripple.

    The resulting DC voltage feeds the white diodes through a capacitor. The voltage across the first capacitor must be at least 400 V. This is important to consider when building a rectifier bridge from diodes. The total number of LEDs will vary depending on the desired end result. Regardless of the choice, the connection diagram remains the same.

    Charger for phone as power supply

    Almost every person in the house has charger from an old mobile phone. Perhaps this power supply is faulty or just lying around unnecessarily.

    Examine the charging and determine its capacity. Let's assume that this parameter is 6 W. Use Ohm's Law to calculate the resistance of the required current limiting resistors depending on the LEDs used. The maximum current passing through the LED should not exceed 20mA.

    If the voltage of the selected diodes is the same, then they can be connected through one resistor. The light will still be heterogeneous, but such differences are insignificant and invisible to human eyes. After completing the assembly, fix the parts with superglue and install in the center of the ceiling, next to the chandelier.

    During the day, the lighting device will be invisible, and at night it will delight you with a dim light, sufficient so that the room is not as dark and gloomy as children imagine. The power of the finished luminaire is 7 W, so the power consumption will be minimal.

    Thus, for a homemade night light, you can take the body of any electrical device that is out of order. This is one of the main advantages of DIY lighting fixtures. Larger lighting fixtures are made from high-power LED bulbs or one piece of flexible tape.

    The choice of materials, the step-by-step process and the power of the LED devices depend on the desired end result. The main difficulties are associated with the soldering of the electronic circuit, and decorating the device, for example, with plywood, is not difficult.

    1. Practicality assessment
    2. Material preparation
    3. What lamps to use

    Original interior items made of wood bring comfort and coziness to the atmosphere. If you do not surprise anyone with solid wood furniture, carved figures on the shelves, then a floor lamp, chandelier or sconces made of twigs or driftwood will definitely attract the attention of guests.

    However, wooden products are not cheap, especially original ones. We offer to save money and create a lighting fixture with your own hands. Plus, it's a great way to realize bold ideas with very little time. To make lamps and sconces, you will need standard carpentry tools.

    Practicality assessment

    To understand how good a wooden lamp is, let's weigh the pros and cons of this unusual decor item.

    Advantages:

    • Environmental friendliness of wood is an important advantage over polymers and other synthetic materials.
    • When heated and in its normal state, the tree emits aromatic substances from the resin - ether, which relaxes and heals.
    • Any forms are created from wood materials - raw materials can be easily processed with carpentry tools.
    • An unusual option for interior decoration. Wooden chandeliers in homes and offices are rare.

    Disadvantages:

    The disadvantages are reduced by using different impregnations and appropriate preparation of the timber. Therefore, a wooden lamp can be called a useful accessory that will emphasize the style of the room and give it charm.

    Material preparation

    Lamps and sconces are created from any wood materials. Planks, branches, driftwood, plywood are used - the choice is determined by the idea. Nevertheless, no matter what the design for the lamp is made of, it is important to properly prepare the lumber:

    • The wood must be dry.
    • Blanks should be treated with complex impregnations with refractory and insecticidal, antiseptic components.
    • It is worth choosing solid timber without signs of decay.

    In addition to wood, lamp holders, carpentry tools and glue (preferably epoxy) are prepared for the manufacture of lampshades.

    What lamps to use

    Since wood is a highly flammable material, you need to be careful when choosing a light source. It is better not to use an incandescent lamp for nightlights and lampshades - when burning, it greatly heats both the cartridge and the wood.

    For such homemade products are suitable lED lamp and tapes - they emit white light and do not heat surfaces, they are fireproof. Diode strips are ideally combined with wood of any color and texture.

    Master class: lamps from boards

    Ideas for making home lamps are countless. We will tell you how to make a homemade chandelier - you can take it as a basis for creativity.

    For manufacturing, you will need beams of any section, for example, 100 × 100 mm or less, depending on the desired dimensions of the finished product, as well as a mirror. We recommend that you make a drawing of the chandelier in advance, which will reflect the lengths of the sides and the area of \u200b\u200bthe mirror part (it should protrude beyond the inner perimeter to rest on the beams).

    1. We make a workpiece from 4 bars of the same length.
    2. Next, we form a "lock" - cut out a rectangular cup half the thickness. A cup cutter or jigsaw will help with this.
    3. We assemble the structure and glue the parts together.
    4. After that, we paint.
    5. From the upper edge we stretch the wiring with the cartridge and fix it to the inside with brackets or small nails.
    6. We attach a mirror on top. It will act as a light reflector. We fix it on the corners.
    7. It remains to attach a suspension, for example, a chain.

    The accessory is ready.

    The video shows a version of the manufacture of such a lighting item, the principle of operation is the same:

    More ideas for lamps from boards:

    Lamps built into false beams. To make them, we connect 3 boards in a U-shape, wires and cartridges will hide in the resulting niche.

    The wheel will create the effect of antiquity or a hunting lodge, forest bungalow. We attach the electrician from the upper side of the wheel facing the ceiling.

    Master class: lampshades and lamps made of plywood

    Plywood is a lightweight material that lends itself well to processing. You can create a variety of products from it. For example, an unusual lamp-lamp for a children's room or hall. It will look equally good on the terrace of a country house and in a city apartment.

    Or like this:

    For a house-shaped plywood night light, use a universal pattern that you can use to make any pattern!

    Now we start making:

    1. The templates prepared for all 4 sides are transferred to a plywood sheet of any thickness.
    2. We send for cutting for an electric jigsaw (or a laser machine for the finest study of petals and small fragments). You can use a manual one, but you will have to tinker with a complex pattern.
    3. Grind the cut edges with sandpaper.
    4. Work with the roof is carried out in the same way. We cut it to size, make a pattern and grind it.
    5. We glue the blanks together. To keep the thin sheets securely together, we install bars inside the house in the corners, on which we glue the walls.
    6. We start the cartridge and fix it on the desired side of the interior. The wire can be inserted into a drawing or a separate hole can be made for it.
    7. We fix the roof, make the bottom. We also glue all the details on the corner bars.
    8. We make a suspension or mount in a convenient way.

    The house is ready. A homemade night light or chandelier can be simple with a simple ornament or designer with a complex idea, wall or tabletop. We present a video master class on making a house from several sections.

    A plywood luminaire can be of any kind. The main thing in working with this material is the need to cut holes for light to pass through. More photos of nightlights and lampshades:

    To assemble such a lampshade from plywood, you need to cut out a groove lock on each workpiece. Then the connection of the parts can be carried out without glue.

    A wood chandelier diffuses light throughout the room. The parts are connected with decorative screws.

    Master class: lamps and chandeliers from branches

    Branches are the most accessible material for creativity. They can be collected at any time in the park or in the square near the house and immediately start creating. The difference between branches and other wooden blanks is that they do not need to be dried. As long as there is moisture in them, they can be bent and create different shapes. Over time, they dry out and no longer straighten.

    Before harvesting the branches, you need to decide on the design of the lampshade or chandelier. Will it be weaving or tying thick sticks with a rope, will the tree be combined with other products - forging, metal frames, etc. We present some interesting ideas:

    A master class will help to make such an accessory for the interior:

    Generalized instructions for creating a plafond from branches:

    It is simple to make a lampshade from branches; special skills are not required for this, as well as tools.

    Master class: a lamp from a log

    An ordinary log and even a driftwood can act as a blank for a chandelier. The main thing is that the material is dried and made harmless from insects and microflora.

    1. We give the blank to the desired size.
    2. In the places where the cartridges are inserted, we make holes of the same diameter as the hidden part of the electrical device.
    3. We attach the suspensions.
    4. We insert the electrician.

    You can watch the master class in the video:

    A snag or a stick of an unusual shape can be turned into a masterpiece by adding a simple lampshade to it:

    Chandelier Bottles

    Combined lamps look outside the box, for example, a wooden base and glass bottles as shades.

    Glass scatters light and creates shades of different colors. Making such a plafond is simple:

    1. We form holes for bottles in the wooden board. The neck should fit tightly, so we select the diameter as accurately as possible.
    2. We attach a suspension to the top of the boards. Chains look original, for which the structure can be hung from the ceiling.
    3. We prepare bottles. In order for them to give off light, the bottom must be removed. This can be done by heating the glass with boiling water, then quickly transfer the bottle under a stream of cold water.
    4. We insert the bottles into the holes in the board, we stretch the electrician through the neck.

    The video shows the process of creating an interesting table lamp.
