Holy Lipetsk holy martyrs for Christ the virgins Minodora, Metrodorus and Nymphodorus of Bithyn
The holy maidens Minodora, Metrodora and Nymphodora of Bithynia. These holy martyrs for Christ and His Church were honored with crowns of martyrdom in the Asia Minor region of Bithynia at the beginning of the 4th century from the birth of Christ. Saints Minodora, Metrodora, and Nymphodora were Christian sisters who took a vow of celibacy in their youth. Secluded in a deserted place, they spent all their time in prayer and ascetic deeds.
The Lord gave the holy sisters the ability to heal the sick with prayer, and therefore the fame of the virgins very quickly spread throughout all Bithynia. Once the ruler of the Fronton region learned about the future martyrs, who ordered their arrest and torture. During the torture, Minodora was the first to go to the Lord, but even the sight of the tortured elder sister did not shake Mitrodor and Nymphodor's fidelity to Christ. The younger sisters also died after terrible torture.
The pagans tried to burn the bodies of the holy martyrs, but heavy rain did not allow them to outrage the relics, and lightning struck the wicked ruler of Fronto and his servants. The Bithinian Christians reverently buried the martyrs, and today, parts of their relics rest, including in the Russian Panteleimon Monastery on Holy Mount Athos.
Prayer on the day of the Cathedral of the Lipetsk Saints, which is read on September 23
About the glorious Cathedral of the saints who shone in the lands of Lipets and Elets! About the saint of our relatives, from the ancient years, even to this day, the seed of the word of God in our land has worked hard to cultivate nature! We are not calling you from your graves, not from the deserts of Kazakhstan and the White Sea, not from any other limit, where the earthly current is miserable, but from the High Jerusalem, where you triumphantly today, and the Trinity of Saints is coming, the spirit does not leave us. We are bo, we are, as if your nikolizhe will cease. For this reason, we boldly pray: wake up our guides to salvation, ask our All-Blessed God for every gift that is worthwhile. Most importantly, the gift of humility and love, so that we will appropriate Christ, and we will serve one another, with brotherly love, and we will not be deprived of your saint's affinity in this whole thing and in the future, praising the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Celebration of the Day of the Cathedral Memory of All Saints of the Voronezh and Lipetsk Diocese
On February 28, 2002, at the diocesan meeting of the Voronezh and Lipetsk diocese, held in Voronezh, on the initiative of Metropolitan Methodius of Voronezh and Lipetsk, the diocesan celebration of the day of conciliar memory of all the saints of the Voronezh and Lipetsk diocese was unanimously established. The day of the new church holiday was September 4 (17), commemorating the second uncovering of the relics of St. Mitrofan of Voronezh in 1989.
As Metropolitan Methodius said: "This event is the beginning of a new stage in the life of our diocese, it became a true sign of the revival of church life."
On September 3, 2002, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II, a church-wide celebration of the Cathedral of Voronezh Saints was established (September 4/17).
According to the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church of May 7, 2003, Voronezh and Lipetsk diocese was divided into independent Voronezh and Borisoglebsk and Lipetsk and Yeletsk dioceses. Despite the division for 7 years, the Cathedral of Voronezh Saints included both the ascetics of the Voronezh and Lipetsk lands, being a single celebration of the two dioceses.
On June 6, 2010, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, in response to the petition of Nikon, Bishop of Lipetsk and Eletsk, blessed the establishment of a church-wide celebration of the Lipetsk Saints Council (September 10/23).
In connection with the establishment this celebration, from the list of the Cathedral of Voronezh Saints, the names of those ascetics are excluded, whose life path is associated exclusively with the cities and villages that are now part of the Lipetsk and Yelets dioceses.
We bring to your attention a photo of the icon of the Cathedral of the Lipetsk Saints.

An excerpt characterizing the Cathedral of the Lipetsk Saints
- Oh, what is it! I have confused everything. There are so many relatives in Moscow! You are Boris ... yes. Well, here we are with you and agreed. Well, what do you think of the Boulogne expedition? After all, the British will have a bad time if only Napoleon will cross the canal? I think the expedition is very possible. Villeneuve would not fail!Boris did not know anything about the Boulogne expedition, he did not read the newspapers and for the first time he heard about Villeneuve.
“Here in Moscow we are more occupied with dining and gossip than politics,” he said in his calm, mocking tone. - I don’t know anything about it and don’t think. Moscow is busy with gossip most of all, - he continued. “Now they are talking about you and the count.
Pierre smiled his kind smile, as if afraid for his interlocutor, lest he say something that he would regret. But Boris spoke distinctly, clearly and dryly, looking directly into Pierre's eyes.
“Moscow has nothing else to do but gossip,” he continued. - Everyone is busy with those to whom the Count will leave his fortune, although, perhaps, he will outlive us all, which I sincerely wish ...
- Yes, it's all very difficult, - Pierre took in, - it's very difficult. - Pierre was still afraid that this officer would inadvertently fall into an awkward conversation for himself.
“And you must think,” said Boris, blushing slightly, but without changing his voice or posture, “you must think that everyone is busy only with getting something from the rich man.
"It is," thought Pierre.
- And I just want to tell you, in order to avoid misunderstandings, that you would be very mistaken if you count me and my mother among these people. We are very poor, but at least I speak for myself: precisely because your father is rich, I do not consider myself his relative, and neither I nor my mother will ever ask for anything or accept anything from him.
Pierre could not understand for a long time, but when he did, he jumped up from the sofa, grabbed Boris by the hand from below with his characteristic swiftness and awkwardness, and, flushing much more than Boris, began to speak with a mixed feeling of shame and vexation.
- This is strange! I really ... and who else could think ... I very much know ...
But Boris again interrupted him:
- I'm glad I said everything. Maybe it’s unpleasant for you, excuse me, ”he said, calming Pierre, instead of being soothed by him,“ but I hope I did not offend you. I have a rule to say everything directly ... How can I convey? Will you come to dine with the Rostovs?
And Boris, apparently having dumped a heavy duty from himself, having himself emerged from an awkward position and putting someone else in it, became again completely pleasant.
“No, listen,” said Pierre, calming down. - You are an amazing person. What you just said is very good, very good. Of course you don't know me. We have not seen each other for so long ... as children ... You can assume in me ... I understand you, I understand very much. I wouldn't do it, I would have lacked the spirit, but it's wonderful. I am very glad to have met you. It’s strange, ”he added, after a pause and smiling,“ what you supposed in me! He laughed. - Well, what then? We will get to know you better. You are welcome. - He shook hands with Boris. - You know, I have never been to the count. He did not call me ... I feel sorry for him as a person ... But what to do?
- And you think that Napoleon will have time to ferry the army? Boris asked, smiling.
Pierre realized that Boris wanted to change the conversation, and, agreeing with him, began to outline the advantages and disadvantages of the Boulogne enterprise.
A footman came to summon Boris to the princess. The princess was leaving. Pierre promised to come to dinner in order to get closer to Boris, firmly shook his hand, affectionately looking into his eyes through his glasses ... After his departure, Pierre walked around the room for a long time, no longer piercing an invisible enemy with his sword, but smiling at the sweet memory of this, smart and firm young man.
As it happens in his first youth and especially in a lonely situation, he felt an unreasonable tenderness for this young man and promised himself to make friends with him.
Prince Vasily saw off the princess. The princess held a handkerchief to her eyes, and her face was in tears.
- It's horrible! awful! - she said, - but no matter what it costs me, I will fulfill my duty. I will come to sleep. You can't leave him like that. Every minute is precious. I don't understand why the princesses are hesitating. Maybe God will help me find a way to cook it! ... Adieu, mon prince, que le bon Dieu vous soutienne ... [Farewell, prince, may God support you.]
- Adieu, ma bonne, [Farewell, my dear,] - answered Prince Vasily, turning away from her.
“Oh, he's in a terrible situation,” the mother said to her son as they got into the carriage again. - He hardly recognizes anyone.
- I don’t understand, mamma, what is his relationship with Pierre? The son asked.
- Will tell everything, my friend; our fate depends on him ...
- But why do you think that he will leave anything to us?
- Ah, my friend! He is so rich and we are so poor!
“Well, that’s not a good enough reason, mamma.
- Oh my god! Oh my God! How bad he is! - exclaimed the mother.
