Eastern Deanery of the Tula Diocese of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church. Lipetsk Diocese Deanery 48

The beginning of the preaching of Orthodoxy in the Lipetsk region dates back to the times of Ancient Rus. In the XVII-XVIII centuries. this territory was ecclesiastically subordinated to the dioceses, then up to 1917 the church history of the region was associated with the Ryazan and Voronezh dioceses.

In 1926 the Lipetsk diocese was created.

After the execution in 1937 of the Bishop of Lipetsk Alexander (Toropov), Lipetsk entered the Voronezh Department. The rest of the Lipetsk region was still under the omophorion of the Oryol, Tambov, Ryazan and Tula bishops. Throughout the post-war period, church life in the Lipetsk Territory is associated with the Voronezh (since 1954 - Voronezh-Lipetsk) diocese. By the decision of the Holy Synod of May 7, 2003, independent Voronezh and Lipetsk dioceses were separated from it. The decision to establish the Lipetsk diocese is the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church in October 2004.

By the decision of the Holy Synod of May 29, 2013 () was separated from the diocese. The ruling bishop was awarded the title "Lipetsk and Zadonsk". The Lipetsk diocese is included in the Lipetsk Metropolitanate.

At the same time, it should be remembered that the main goal of the Church of Christ is not the external revival of its buildings and organizations, they are only necessary conditions, but the internal spiritual perfection of its members, achieved by hard, joint labor "The Kingdom of Heaven is taken by force and those who use effort delight it." ...

The work of a good shepherd is not easy, continuing the evangelistic ministry of the Chief Shepherd of our Lord Jesus Christ. But following Christ is never easy and carefree. It requires the full commitment of one's strength and abilities, and sometimes life. Without evangelizing our own lives, our ministry becomes completely meaningless and useless. “If I preach the gospel,” says ap. Paul, I have nothing to boast of, because this is my necessary [duty] ... and woe is me if I do not preach the gospel ”(1 Cor. 9.16).
