    Honda is a manufacturer of automotive and motorcycle equipment that has won worldwide recognition. The company was founded in Japan and has been able to achieve incredible success throughout its history.

    The range of motorcycles produced by Honda includes a variety of motorcycles and ATVs. The corporation produces both street-models of motorcycles, and sports, and heavy motorcycles. The volume of engines varies from 50 to 1900 sq. cm. The main consumer is Asian countries, and the average annual revenue is growing by 12-15% every year.

    The model range of motor vehicles includes the following product classes:

    • classic models of lightweight control;
    • cross motorcycles;
    • cruiser models of motor vehicles;
    • small-capacity motorcycles;
    • models of the “super sport” class;
    • tourist motorcycles;
    • motorcycles of a universal type.

    The corporation is constantly modernizing its production, equipping it with the latest technicians and improving the skills of specialists. This approach to work provided the company with a resounding success among consumers and brought products far beyond the borders of the state.

    History of Honda

    Honda was founded in 1948 in Japan. The first founder was Soitro Honda, after whom the corporation is named. In 1948, Honda employed no more than 20 people.

    By 1950, the company began developing motorcycles that were powered by four-stroke engines. These models brought the first wave of popularity of the company.

    Until the early 60s, motorcycles manufactured by the company actively participated in races, in which they won only first positions. Also during this period, the total sales turnover and profit of the company increased significantly, which amounted to more than 60 million dollars.

    The advantage of Honda motorcycles was that they were much lower in price than other manufacturers, but had a high overall power rating. such a marketing move allowed the company to quickly take a large share of the motorcycle market.

    After such success, the company began to invest even more in product and technology research, creating motors with even higher volume indicators. The current Honda motorcycles are the best models of their kind, which are unparalleled in the whole world.

    If you are interested in a new Japanese crossover and want to know what it is, the cord will be on sale and how much it will cost, this article is for you.

    Start of sales

    Oddly enough, Russia is the first country in Europe to start selling the fifth generation CR-V. The appearance of the crossover on the market is scheduled for the summer, as the first batches will begin to be produced in April, and it will take several more months for the delivery of cars from the United States. Note that at the start of sales, only the CR-V with a 2.4-liter engine will be available, the younger models of the car will appear approximately in September.

    Many people did not like the previous generation CR-V because of the low ground clearance. The engineers listened to the community and increased the ground clearance to 20 centimeters. Among the shortcomings is the anther of the engine compartment made of thin plastic, the advantage is a perfectly flat bottom, there is simply nothing to cling to about unevenness when driving in a ditch.

    How is it without the "turbo"?

    The 2017 CR-V will come to us with exactly the same set of engines as the previous generation. Atmospheric 4-ki with distributed injection (2.0 l, 150 horsepower, 190 Nm) and direct type (2.4 l, 188 hp, 245 Nm) will enter the market. According to the manufacturer, both engines will eat 92 gasoline without any problems.

    But a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. for 190 horses, which was developed specifically for the new crossover, will not get to Russia at the start of sales. Honda engineers decided that it was too gentle for domestic realities and that it would initially require a run-in and testing, after which a decision would be made on the advisability of supplying such CR-Vs. The situation is similar with active radiator shutters, which will also be absent from the configuration for the first time.

    The Russian version of the CR-V 2017 will differ from the American one with modified foglights, reflectors and a radiator grille. Also, due to low demand, our crossovers will lack adaptive air conditioning, lane keeping and automatic braking functions.

    How about drive and transmission?

    With the new generation of the CR-V, Honda decided to ditch the front-wheel drive, manual transmission and standard automatic. The crossover will be produced in one version - all-wheel drive with a CVT robot, which migrated to the CR-V 2017 from the maximum version of 2.4 liters last year. We have not heard any negative feedback about the variator from real owners, it has proven itself well.

    Will the price rise?

    Yes, and significantly. The advertisement said about a price of one and a half million, but this is extremely implausible. Prices for the 2017 CR-V are likely to start at $1.8 million, which is comparable to the current price of the 2016 2.4L CR-V, and since the new product has better equipment and larger dimensions, it will obviously not be cheaper.

    Nevertheless, Honda representatives promise to make every effort to maintain the starting price throughout the year, while according to their estimates, all CR-V competitors - Rav4, X-Trail, Sportage in 2017 will rise in price significantly.

    What's in the kit?

    In this regard, Honda pleases. Even the most affordable CR-V in the Elegance package cannot be called empty, since 8 airbags, tire pressure detection and stabilization functions, an electromechanical handbrake, parking sensors and air conditioning were stuffed into it.

    By increasing the wheelbase by 4 cm, the passenger seats in the CR-V have become more spacious. Passengers in the new crossover will definitely like it - a flat floor, the ability to adjust the seat, folding armrests.

    Intermediate equipment - LifeStyle, will additionally include dual-zone climate control, an increased number of speakers (6 versus 4), a multimedia panel with a large screen (7 inches), blind spot cameras, tinted windows, keyless entry and a rain sensor. Also, it is in this configuration that the first LED headlights in the history of the CR-V will appear.

    Luxury equipment - Executive, will boast leather trim, heated steering wheel and seats, improved acoustics and the presence of a servo passenger seat.

    In the maximum configuration - Prestige, you will get a subwoofer, a proprietary navigation system from Garmin, a head-up display and a sunroof.

    The CR-V 2016 has an extremely spacious luggage compartment with good sound insulation and the ability to fold the rear seat backrest (automatically). You can only find fault with the lack of a contactless opening system.

    Who is producing?

    Honda representatives said that they do not plan to organize the production of CR-V 2017 in Russia - this is simply not profitable, since the projected sales volume does not exceed 400-500 cars per year. The production of crossovers will be carried out in the United States, where all components will be made - engines, gearboxes, etc.

    It is in the United States that the CR-V is most successful, it is the leader in sales among crossovers in the country - in 2016, 346,000 fourth-generation CR-Vs were sold. That is why the presentation of the novelty took place in Los Angeles.

    2017 Honda CR-V First Look (Video)

    How does it behave on the road?

    The test model of a crossover with a 2.4-liter engine proved to be excellent during the run-in. First of all, we highlight the excellent layout of the control elements - everything you need is at hand, extremely comfortable seats, ideal for long trips, and the presence of auto glass.

    The new multimedia is made on the Android platform. She has both advantages and disadvantages. Among the minuses is a meager interface with primitive graphics and the use of touch buttons instead of mechanical ones, pluses are support for Apple Car, Android Auto and MirorLink functions. The manufacturer also promises that production car models will be friends with Yandex Traffic.

    The new CR-V rides easily and briskly, both at the start and in dynamics. Thanks to the linear throttle lever, it is very comfortable to drive at a minimum speed, which is necessary when maneuvering in traffic jams, and the ability to fine-tune the steering sensitivity will be useful for fragile women.

    The transmission can operate in Sport mode, and there is also an Eco mode for maximum fuel economy. There are no complaints about either the suspension or the sound insulation (the running gear and the engine are almost inaudible when driving).

    We will draw more extensive conclusions after testing production models, since it is not entirely correct to make a verdict in isolation from car prices. However, the CR-V 2017, apparently, turned out to be a good continuation of the popular series of crossovers from the Japanese.

    In contact with

    Everyone knows that Japan was the first country producing Honda. However, with the growth of popularity and the development of production, the company expanded its production capacity and built factories in the countries of Southeast Asia.

    general information

    The famous automobile brand Honda belongs to the international company of the same name, which also specializes in the production of aircraft, motorcycles, mopeds, electric generators, marine engines, domestic lawn mowers and various robots. In the near future, the company will launch its own plant for the production of biofuels and photovoltaic components for cars.

    Honda's manufacturing country is one of 33 countries where 119 of the company's enterprises are located. The main capacities are based in the USA, India, Brazil and Japan, and the largest volumes of products are produced in China, Indonesia and Thailand. This brand is a leader in the global motorcycle market, and in the field of automobile production it is among the top ten. Honda is still one of the few independent automakers in the world that have managed to avoid a merger with other giants. The company's headquarters is located in the Japanese city of Tokyo.

    History of creation

    The brand was founded in 1946 by a talented race car driver, engineer and inventor named and in 1948 the Honda Motor Company was officially registered, which later became famous throughout the world. The first product that Soirtiro specialized in was motorcycles, and already in 1959 the company was recognized as a world leader in this field.

    In 1962 the first sports car was produced. Honda car manufacturing plants were based in the USA, Germany, Taiwan, Belgium, and France. did not welcome the new brand of car, because they did not want to create competition for the already existing brands of Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi. It was believed that such competition harms the interests of the state, but Soichiro Honda ignored the ban and, in addition to a sports car, also launched a small truck on the market.

    In 1972, the company gained worldwide recognition, thanks to the triumphant model of the Civic car, which has enjoyed incredible popularity to this day. Since then, Honda has gained a reputation for making affordable, compact cars of exceptionally high quality.

    How to determine the country of assembly

    The largest production is concentrated in three countries: China, Indonesia, Thailand. The country of origin of Honda (Honda) varies depending on the brand of car:

    • Accord and Civic are released in Thailand and Japan.
    • CR-V - in Thailand and Indonesia.
    • Jazz - also in Thailand and Indonesia.

    Regardless of who the country of origin of Honda is, the cars of this brand are characterized by the highest build quality. Even at those factories that are built in not too developed countries, total control of all stages of production is carried out. The corporation built its own workshops, installed equipment, and engineers and all other personnel were trained. The actions of employees are repeatedly checked by automated systems, so the quality of the finished product is always impeccable.

    The level of comfort and handling of a sedan, combined with economical fuel consumption and large capacity - that's what those who look towards representatives of the compact crossover segment, such as the Honda CR-V, want to get. At the moment, the fifth generation of this famous Japanese SUV is being sold on the Russian market, and it has every chance of becoming no less popular than the previous version. The fifth CR-V 2017 model year is larger, more spacious, more beautiful and, finally, more powerful than its predecessor - this is a real, absolutely full-fledged all-wheel drive crossover that can surprise you very pleasantly. Read more about it in our review!

    Design

    As a result of the change of generations, the CR-V has become even larger than it was, which is why it is now difficult to call it a compact "SUV". The length of the car increased by 3 cm, the height - by 3.5 cm, and the wheelbase - by 4 cm, which, of course, had a good effect on the amount of space in the cabin and luggage compartment. The dimensions of the novelty are masked with sharp lines, muscular wings, as well as detailed headlights and taillights. The optics with an improved design is based on LED technology - in the best traditions of modern Japanese cars. Between the headlights, a solid chrome-plated radiator grille with horizontal slats harmoniously fit in, which gives the car a little aggressiveness.

    A stylish bumper flaunts under the grille, coupled with elegant foglights. Impressive wheel rims with a rather original pattern and quite informative exterior mirrors are visible on the side. In addition, chrome is present in the exterior - exactly in the amount so as not to be considered inappropriate. Overall, the fifth CR-V looks like the perfect addition to the urban landscape and looks just as good as its more expensive competitors. It is one hundred percent "in trend" and is perfect for both normal daily driving and for country holidays with the whole family or with friends. There is enough space for family trips both in the cabin and in the trunk, which, according to the VDA standard, holds at least 522 liters. cargo, and is equipped with an electric drive with adjustable opening height. True, the electric drive is available only in expensive trim levels.

    Design

    At the heart of the 2017 CR-V is a new design: it has McPherson-type independent suspension at the front, and an independent multi-link at the rear. All brakes - disc, front - ventilated, with 4-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS). Responsible for steering rack and pinion with an electronic booster. Four-wheel drive - with a multi-plate clutch that transfers up to 50% of power to the rear axle.

    Adaptation to Russian conditions

    For Russian roads, the 2017 CR-V is a very worthy option, and not only because it has a refined intelligent all-wheel drive system and 208 mm ground clearance, which make cross-country driving possible. The crossover also provides stabilization systems (VSA) and hill climb assistance (HSA), stowage in the cargo hold, climate control and, in addition, heated first-row seats, wiper rest areas and exterior mirrors in all trim levels. Heated rear seats (three-mode) and steering wheel are a privilege of the top versions.

    Comfort

    The interior of the fifth CR-V is typically Honda and is distinguished by high-quality finishes in any version - at least in the initial, even in the top. The most affordable versions have seats trimmed with good-quality textiles, the most “fancy” ones have leather, and the steering wheel and gear lever are sheathed in leather, regardless of the configuration. Each seat is neatly stitched, the doors are equipped with elegant chrome handles, all the decorative elements look quite appropriate, including woodgrain inserts on the dash and doors. The plastic on the front panel immediately makes it clear that they did not save here. The seats on the front row are comfortable and have a wide range of adjustments, and the driver's seat has electric lumbar support. Between the chairs, two cup holders are “registered”, along with a comfortable armrest. The rear sofa is also quite comfortable and is equipped with a folding armrest with a pair of cup holders.

    A tall driver sits down “by himself” without any problems - there will be plenty of free space for the knees and head behind. This is one of the few compact crossovers that can offer this much space. The three-spoke steering wheel with paddles allows you to adjust the sound of the audio system, receive hands-free calls and turn on the heated rim, the presence of which is especially important in the cold season. It may seem that there are too many buttons on the steering wheel, but in fact you quickly get used to it. The dashboard is traditionally located behind the wheel - its multifunctional LCD screen displays the readings of the on-board computer, compass, driver fatigue monitoring system and the dynamic scheme of all-wheel drive. The readability of the instrument panel does not raise any special questions.

    In the safety rating of the European organization Euro NCAP, the previous generation CR-V earned 5 stars out of 5, so there is no reason to doubt that the updated model deserves the highest rating. Especially considering how much useful equipment she has - as many as 8 airbags and many electronic assistants are provided, including maneuvering assistance systems (AHA) and braking (BA), as well as tire pressure monitoring (DWS), driver fatigue, movement on the lane (Lane Watch), and other "smart" assistants. Depending on the configuration, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, cruise control and a retractable head-up display are available. A retractable screen, offered only in the most expensive version, is less convenient than projecting the necessary information directly onto the windshield, as it makes you more likely to be distracted from driving.

    The top-end CR-V 2017 is equipped with a proprietary infotainment system based on Android OS - with a Multitouch touch screen, navigation with traffic display, Internet access, 8 speakers, steering wheel control buttons, a subwoofer and support for MirrorLink technology. Thanks to this complex, you can view the image from the rear view camera, listen to music or watch videos of various formats by connecting a mobile device via USB or HDMI connectors, or via Bluetooth. Speed, graphics and sound quality "multimedia" - on the top five.

    Honda SRV 5 Specifications

    In Russia, the range of engines of the fifth CR-V consists of two gasoline 16-valve “fours” with overhead camshafts, a light alloy cylinder block and an i-VTEC valve control system. Both quietly consume fuel with an octane rating of 92 and are combined exclusively with a variable speed transmission (CVT). We are talking about a two-liter engine (offered in the Russian Federation since September 2017), which produces 150 hp. at 6500 rpm and 189 Nm at 4300 rpm, and a 2.4-liter direct injection engine with a return of 186 hp. at 6400 rpm and a peak torque of 244 Nm at 3900 rpm. Passport average fuel consumption is 7.5-7.8 liters. per 100 km, but actual numbers may vary.

    Honda has released a new model CR-V, which is ready to compete with other cars in this promising segment of the Russian car market. The new variation differs from the previous one not only in a larger engine, but also in a number of other changes in the equipment of the machine, as well as in the concept as a whole. This is due to the fact that the production of cars with a 2-liter engine takes place in England, and they are in demand mainly in the European market, and the assembly of 2.4-liter engines is in America and is oriented to the US market.

    Same or different?

    What is the fundamental difference between these two versions? Even outwardly, the American variant is distinguished by the design of the front bumper: its lower cut has a clear geometry typical of SUVs to increase cross-country ability. The previous model was designed in much the same way, however, customers complained about the weak sporty character of the car, so Mugen's pseudo-sport body kits were extremely popular. It is not surprising that the appearance of the European version of the car has become more rapid due to the lowered bumper line located in front. It is important that this did not particularly affect the geometry of the crossover, and the car still confidently overcomes the declared 23 degrees. But the angle of entry of the "American" with an engine capacity of 2.4 liters is increased to 28 °; in combination with powerful 18-inch wheels, the car may well be an excellent companion in off-road conditions.

    Test "American" on the Russian off-road

    Indeed, the American version of the car shows excellent handling performance on difficult road terrain, so characteristic of Russia. At a speed of 80 km / h, it is quite possible to drive calmly, without going to extremes and bending around deep potholes, which are hardly subject to the so-called SUV. For a crossover, the car shows a smooth ride and good energy consumption. However, the off-road qualities of the car are not unlimited, and, having felt sand under the wheels, the car starts to behave not so calmly and may well get up, since this model does not have slippage.

    In order to evaluate how the new clutch, equipped with an electric pump and electronic control, would work in natural conditions, the participants in the test drive chose a small embankment with a slope of about 20 degrees. In this case, the lion's share of the load is transferred to the mechanism for starting the rear axle drive. Here, a function has become relevant that allows you to limit the switching of an automatic transmission. In the European variation, this option is available only in the "sport" mode using the steering wheel paddles. The clutch was able to work for about half a minute, then the overheated element needed a rest. Unfortunately, despite the good geometry and excellent suspension, this crossover is still not capable of competing with SUVs. True, the majority of buyers, most likely, will not purchase a city car for driving on rough terrain.

    Features of the European version of the Honda CR-V

    On the pavement, the 2-liter crossover variant could not confirm the declared sporty style, since the electric amplifier almost did not “communicate” with the wheels, the steering wheel turned out to be too empty and light, and the zero indicator was stretched by almost a quarter of a turn. This modification did not distinguish itself by good dynamics, however, this did not happen through the fault of the atmospheric engine, the 5-speed gear selector performed poorly here. Neither the "sport" mode nor manual gear shifting is able to correct the situation. The lag behind the mechanics is 2.4 seconds, which is usually not typical of modern machines.

    A volume of 2.4 liters does not improve the situation much if the car starts from a place, but it manifests itself more clearly when overtaking, and acceleration from 80 to 120 km / h takes about 8 seconds or a little more, and this time is enough to the driver felt confident on the track.

    Pros and cons of CR-V versions

    Interestingly, the crossover, assembled in North America, is equipped with a more responsive steering. In addition, the modified electric drive allows the “American” to coordinate the position of the wheels on the road much better than the European model. It is a pity that flashing the steering algorithm is currently impossible, it would not be superfluous for a 2-liter model.

    The suspensions of both the one and the other version of the car did their job well. But in terms of sound insulation, the American variation confidently outperformed its European competitor.

    The rear row of seats is good for both variations of the car, since when creating the car, it was decided to remove the uncomfortable tunnel and improve the ergonomics of the cabin. In addition, the doors began to open wider, which makes it easier for even fairly large passengers to get into the cabin, and the headrests have become more comfortable.

    The mechanism for folding the second row seats, designed to increase the luggage space, is not very convenient, since the car is not equipped with an electric drive, and the ability to fold the rear seats from the luggage compartment is not provided.

    The interiors of the two models are similar, but the materials used for finishing differ. The European version uses the usual soft plastic for the dashboard and velor seats, but the American version does not give the impression of a flexible finish, however, the seats are sheathed in high-quality leatherette, which is not available in the 2-liter version. The model from Europe is deprived of an excellent navigation system, equipped with detailed Navteq maps and featuring good route guidance.

    Winner not announced

    So, the CR-V, created in England, in terms of its characteristics, such as reliability, economy, slowness and ease of operation, is more suitable for ladies. But the American version of the car will appeal to the representatives of the stronger sex, because it has a slightly higher ground clearance, a more powerful engine, a front bumper typical for SUVs, concise interior trim, and an excellent navigation system that will be indispensable when traveling.

    As for the cost, the price of a Honda CR-V ranges from 1,149,000 to 1,529,000, i.e. the machine belongs to the middle segment of the market. Compared to those presented, there are more budgetary, simpler and more suitable for off-road cars, there are those that cost more, but have better dynamics and controllability. Honda has set itself the goal of raising the share of the CR-V model in the lineup to 60%. When choosing from a huge range of various cars, it is worth remembering such advantages as a comfortable and spacious interior, reliable assembly, good equipment, as well as excellent car sound insulation.
