Anime plot
Imagine that you find yourself in the place of one such god, by the name of Yato, you have no stake or yard, and you spend the night with richer gods in their temples. At the same time, you are dressed in an ordinary tracksuit, and the partner weapon with which you are fighting against various creatures of darkness has gone to another god. It immediately becomes clear that the situation is very unenviable.
But, nevertheless, Yato does not get upset and since there is no way to kill different creatures yet, then you can do something less significant. For example, finding a kitten on the streets of Tokyo ... although I think it will be easier to kill the monster.
Since Yato is a god, it is difficult to notice his presence on the street. More precisely, you will see it, but after a couple of steps you don't even remember. Therefore, it was really surprising when high school student Hiyori Iki looked at him uneasily, but also mistook him for an ordinary person. Naturally, at this moment the missing belly appears, Yato, in an attempt to catch the kitten, ran out into the street and a truck had to run over him. The girl thought that an inevitable meeting should await him under the wheels of a multi-ton car. In an attempt to save him, she pushes Yato out from under the wheels.
And I should have asked her what the schoolgirl thought when she herself almost died. But, nevertheless, in connection with all these events, she acquires a unique ability for an ordinary person. She is now able to leave her body. Her spirit is now free to walk in the wild, while her body limply rolls around somewhere in the park, to the delight of everyone walking. Hiyori probably would not even have noticed the appearance of such an ability if Yato had not reappeared and explained everything. And it is necessary that the girl, out of inexperience, asked to heal him.
No, the point here is not at all that he is bad or unnecessarily selfish. But if he does not even have a sacred weapon, then the strength to heal the heroine will clearly be lacking. Therefore, Hiyori must help Yato become a good and strong god.
The first task is to find a new instrument for exploits. It becomes the spirit of the boy Yukino, who so effectively turns into a samurai sword without Tsuka. But besides the sharp blade, the unknown god is also lucky with the sharp character of the newly minted subordinate. And now Yato has more problems.
Viewing Impressions
"Homeless God" compares favorably with many other anime, in which various Japanese mythical creatures appear. And basically this difference is precisely in the plot, the nature of the narrative and accents. However, when watching it, do not forget that we are dealing with a comedy to a greater extent than a drama or action movie.
Usually, when the Japanese portray their gods, they turn out to be very wise and status. Therefore, it is rarely when you can see them in an absurd position or talking outright nonsense. But here is a completely different case. Yato initially appears to the viewer as a classic loser. Only in the future we understand that not everything is so simple. However, besides him, other Gods are shown, this, in turn, further enhances the impression.
True, in Yato's colleagues, or rather in their weapons, there is a small minus. The fact is that just they are not fully revealed in the plot. There are too many of them, every wardrobe item can be their servants. But in this case, this is more of a small niggle than a complete omission.
The plot itself began to be built not at all around the relationship between Yato and Hiyori, although, undoubtedly, hints are present. The creators chose a more difficult path, namely to show how difficult it is even for God to put on the true path the lost and rejected by the world. Undoubtedly, in the anime, Yukino embodies the image of not so much a ghost as a lonely teenager with big problems and a bad past. Yato then tries to embody the image of a parent, educator and friend. It is precisely the one whom many people lack so much in adolescence. It seems that is why most of those who watched liked Yato so much.
As for the characters, they are surprisingly good and non-trivial. If I have already said a little about Yato and Yukino, then we should not forget also their eternal partner - Hiyori. Here, too, it turned out to be a very lively and active character. It is difficult to attribute it to one of the archetypes of commercial anime, and if we look at it in detail, then a little bit of everything can be found in it. Active and quick-witted, she does not turn out to be the 5th wheel in the plot.
As for the Gods who appeared in the plot, it is too early to form a full-fledged opinion about them. It is also early because, most likely, the second season will be waiting for us. The only question is how quickly the series will hit the screens. And there is no doubt that it will be. In the set, the viewer receives a very good anime series, with a good plot, curious characters, pleasant artwork and a perky soundtrack.

The first name is Mizuchi, given to her by Father Yato (Mizuchi also calls this character Father). When Yaboku was "born", he gave his "son" Mizuchi, telling him to make her his shinki. Yaboku gave her the name Hiiro. From that moment on, she became a burrow. Yato used it for many centuries to kill people at the request of their Father. Previously, Hiiro and Yato had a warm relationship: they behaved like brother and sister, but later Yato stopped calling on her, because he decided to retire and become a god of happiness. Since then, he stopped calling her by name and called her nora, which upset her, because, according to her, she loved the name that Yato gave her. Despite this, Nora sincerely believes that the shinki are better than her, Yato will never find.
She can control ayakashi with the help of masks (her Father taught her this), with their help she tried to eliminate Hieri and Yukine, since Yato is jealous of them.
Yato believes that Hiiro can never change and will always remain cold-blooded, bloodthirsty, capable of killing without the slightest doubt.

Bishamontaine
Goddess, doesn't get along well with Yato because of the past. One day, Yato slaughtered her entire family (the "Ma" clan) at the request of Kazuma, one of Bishamon's shinki. As noted, the female characters are really smart here. If you are an avid fan of flat chested tsunderas, you are wrong anime. Fans of moe-sluts with physically impossible breasts are also not here. Yangir scattering the remains of the object of sighing along the walls with an ax, again, are not observed.
It's another matter if you value naturalness. Welcome. No, girls are not the focus of realism here, of course, but they have a drop of naturalism and common sense (I can't believe my happiness). The figures of the heroines will not disappoint you either, and you will not have to listen to the snot "I have small breasts", which annoy you a hundred times more than Oyashev's sobs of "ore ga mamoru", by God.

Nooo, I'm not going to describe Nora now (whose voice actress surprised me again) or a filler villain. I'd rather mention the enemies of the second plan, i.e. ayakashi.
So design. Someone seems to have complained about him, but I honestly don't understand why. Firstly, the designers didn’t mess around in the spirit of "all the same extras, we will draw something ugly and it will do." This is the case when even on the second plan they worked wonderfully well. Ayakashi turned out to be psychedelic and peculiar, and even their voices, glued together from the voices of different people, is a truly ingenious find. For ayakashi in Japanese folklore are spirits feeding on the negative emotions of people; and how well their psychedelicity and voice, as if woven from the nasty thoughts of many people, fit into this idea!
Ayakashi clinging to a shinki is a really powerful move. Someone twitches with disgust, twitches me with admiration. We put a bold plus.
I was also pleased that the ayakashi did not begin to be presented as a universal evil - there were and will be negative emotions, but you need to start worrying only when these emotions get out of control. By virtue of this idea, the heroes do not walk along the streets, mowing all the ayakashi to the left and right, and they may well even coexist with them - not to be friends, namely to coexist.

Plot.
He's not bad after all. I will not say that he is very original and shines with ideas left and right, but he is good. It is good even though it was brutally shredded and altered in an attempt to fit 3 volumes into 10 episodes (the remaining two are still filler, don't forget).
The story with Yukine looks logical enough both there and there. In the manga, Yuki was originally a noble asshole, then his brain was straightened and he quieted down, in the anime, Yuki was at first quite meek, but flew off the coils due to imaginary loneliness (convince me that as a teenager you did not feel lonely even in the circle of relatives and friends) and then was forcibly returned to the reels. Moreover, there are hints that in the manga the full story looked like this: during Yuuki's life he was a goody, then his life went downhill, as a result of which he died with a disgusting character, then he was reborn into a shinki with the same disgusting character and as a result of the ceremony purification was returned to the state of goody.
So, in my personal impression, the plot in Noragami is still worked out, and even the battered anime version still looks logical and convincing. Although I can not help but note that the shredding of the anime affected the relationship between the characters, because at first I honestly believed that the main heroine would be shipped with Yukine. After the last episodes of the anime, I began to doubt, and in the manga I finally saw who the authors were rooting for.
Regarding the ninth episode, separate applause. Everyone suffers so convincingly that the sadists died of happiness while watching.
And also there are no yaoi hints here. The shippers will, of course, but I haven't. Medal to the authors.
Humor.
He is here. Not stupid Shounen jokes, but really good jokes generated by the beautiful work of the voice actor or mockery on the stamps (my love for Noragami began with a skyscraper, whoever saw it will understand. Even the standard of such a move as boke-tsukkomi did not keep me from hysterical laughter). Well, plus some crazy jokes from mangaka (what a pity that the anime did not include the story with the eyes on the back of a shinki watching melodramas on TV while he sleeps XD)
Well, now I will turn to the unpleasant part of this anime.
Stamps.
So, this anime boasts as many as four striking intersections with other anime:
- Kazuma. Urgently fix the brains of those who conducted the castes. Kazuma had little outward resemblance to Yukio from Ao no Exorcist, so they managed to choose the same voice actor! The characters' characters are still different, and the more I delve into the manga, the more they differ, but in the anime the similarities are simply unbearable.
- People turn into weapons (hello Soul Eater). But in general, as far as I know, this idea was encountered not only in Soul Eater, and does not cause irritation.
- The technique with which Yato either sharpens or illuminates the blade, running his fingers along the blade, has already been met in D.Gray-man, hello Kanda.
- A blade without a normal handle, just wrapped in a rag, can evoke associations with Bleach, and in vain. For wrapping a rag around the handle of a bare blade is a natural necessity.
In general, I am inclined to believe that stamps are not so bad if they are used in reasonable quantities (two eyes in people can also be considered a stamp, for that matter). In this case, we can talk about the moderate use of stamps.
Conclusion: universal sadness. First, there will most likely not be a second season. Secondly, difficulties in translating the manga prevent people from reading a really good story, most of which was never told in the anime. Who is Nora with Yato? Why does Kazuma consider himself to be in Yato's debt? Who was Yukine during his lifetime? What's going on with Hiyori? And finally, what are the authors going to do with the love line (and it will be there, I assure you)? The answers to all these questions will have to be found in the manga, which has not yet been translated into Russian. And the answers there are interesting, because my manga is flying in spite of a passionate desire to abandon reading dialogues. Connoisseurs of English can try their luck on English-language sources, and I will go on to train the reading of hiragana and memorize the meanings of the hieroglyphs.
