    TASS report: an event of national importance

    On April 21, 1880, the Far Eastern Shipping Company was founded. The beginning of the regular Russian merchant shipping between the ports of European Russia and the Far East was laid by the steamer "Moskva", which arrived from Odessa to Vladivostok.

    The Far Eastern Shipping Company is one of the most significant shipping companies in Russia today. According to the management, the company strives to become a leader in the transport industry in the territory of the Russian Federation.

    Spread

    Vessels of the Far Eastern Shipping Company operate all over the world.

    Representative offices and agents of the company are located both in Europe and throughout Asia. The official address of the Far Eastern Shipping Company is located in Moscow, where you can talk to the top management. And the main assets are located in Vladivostok.

    Company formation

    The Far Eastern Shipping Company dates back to 1880. Back in the days of the Russian Empire, a strategic decision was made to develop the eastern coast of the country and the shipping company based on the port of Vladivostok. The Voluntary Fleet Agency company was established.

    Well, the carrier company received its current name “Far Eastern Shipping Company” back in 1935.

    Heading to the distant shore, there was a steamer called "Moscow". It is with this voyage that the history of regular ship calls to the Vladivostok port begins.

    However, given the climatic conditions of this region, for a long time access by sea was interrupted for the entire winter period due to the fact that the water area was covered with ice.

    And only in 1894, the "Voluntary Fleet Agency" acquired a regular icebreaker. The steamer "Silach" during the whole winter of 1894-1895 managed to ensure the continuous functioning of the port and prevent icing of the shipping channel.

    During the Great Patriotic War

    Vladivostok was the main Pacific outpost of the Soviet Union. The main danger was then the Japanese army.

    By the beginning of 1941, the DMP merchant fleet already consisted of 70 steamers and 15 motor ships, among which there were also five tanker-type ships.

    In December 1941, the Land of the Rising Sun declares its rights to the Far Eastern Sangar and Korean, calling them "Japan's naval defense lines" Although legally the rules of their passage were regulated by the principle of freedom of the high seas, in practice the enemy armed forces block the passage through the straits, including using weapons.

    Border clashes have occurred before. After the official declaration of war, the city and the port completely went into combat mode.

    It so happened that during these years Vladivostok remained the last port of the USSR, located outside the combat zone. A large flow of supplies, defense and attacks went through it.

    During the war years, the Far Eastern Shipping Company lost 25 of its own ships. The last torpedoed steamer was the Transbalt, which put an end to these sad statistics.

    In Russia

    After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian Federation, which became the legal successor to the previous government, established the Far Eastern Shipping Company, an open joint stock company.

    In a new country with an existing fleet, the administration of the shipping company is making great efforts to expand the geography of its work.

    New shipping lines open between ports in Australia and the United States.

    Own agency companies start their work in New Zealand, Hong Kong, Canada.

    The development of a new package of services begins, including forwarding with the possibility of providing ex-works services (door to door).

    In 2003, with the opening of the FESCO Logistic company, whose office is located in Moscow, the Far Eastern Shipping Company focuses the services market on the European part of Russia. The development of rail transport plays a significant role in this.

    Fleet today

    In 2006 six new container ships and one Ro-Ro vessel are delivered to the fleet of the Far Eastern Shipping Company.

    Today FESCO operates twenty vessels of various years of construction.

    The oldest vessel in the fleet is the container ship Captain Krems, built back in 1980. Its deadweight is only 5805 register tons. It is also one of the smallest vessels to operate.

    The newest vessel and at the same time the largest in the shipping company operation is the container ship Fesco Diomid, built in 2009, with a deadweight of 41,850 tons.

    Also, the icebreaking vessel "Vasily Golovnin", which was built in 1988, is still operating.

    "Captains"

    The "captains" of the Far Eastern Shipping Company deserve special attention. To date, the fleet includes only four such vessels:

      Captain Afanasyev;

      Captain Maslov;

      Captain Krems;

      "Captain Sergievsky".

    All of them are single-deck motor ships designed for transportation of general container cargo.

    Captain Afanasiev and Captain Maslov were built in 1998 at a Polish shipyard in Szczecin. Vessels with a deadweight of over 23 thousand gross tons fly the flag of Cyprus.

    Captain Krems and Captain Sergievsky are the oldest and most experienced ships in the fleet. Their story begins in 1980, at the Vyborg shipyard and continues to this day.

    Let's sum up

    The Far Eastern Shipping Company today is a very important company in modern Russia, which strives to become a leader in the entire transport industry. Her story is wide and long. But she survived, and not only that it does not lose its position, but every day it develops and becomes more and more popular.

    History

    The shipping company was founded on April 25, 1880, when the Volunteer Fleet steamer “Moskva” arrived from Odessa to Vladivostok, which laid the foundation for regular Russian merchant shipping between the ports of European Russia and the Far East. The agent of the Volunteer Fleet Society, Vasily Esipov, who arrived on the ship, created a local agency, which later turned into the affairs department of the Volunteer Fleet in Far East.

    In 1924 it was renamed into the Far Eastern office of "Sovtorgflot", and in 1935 - into the Far Eastern state shipping company. In 1972, all 43 tankers were separated from its structure into the Primorsk State Shipping Company. It was transformed into a joint stock company in 1992.

    Until January 2013, the controlling stake in FESCO belonged to the Industrial Investors group of entrepreneur Sergei Generalov, from which the Summa group bought out entrepreneur Ziyavudin Magomedov for an amount estimated at $ 1-1.4 billion.

    On May 31, 2016, there was a default on the issuer's obligations to the owners to repay a part of the par value in the amount of 20% of the par value of exchange-traded bonds in the amount of 401,559,000.00 rubles, as well as Failure to fulfill the issuer's obligations to the owners to pay coupon income in the amount of 120,146,452.80 rubles. Later, the coupon payment was made. These events downgraded the company's long-term credit rating to Russian and international investors. The company's management intentionally in July 2016 will hold a meeting of bondholders and raise the issue of the right to demand early redemption of bonds in the event of such a right.
