    Guide for setting up, installing and using Starline alarms. Setting up the burglar alarm Is it possible to adjust the sensitivity of the motorcycle alarm

    Dear readers, in this article we will tell you about the main aspects of the process of installing a car alarm on a car. We believe that this information can be useful to many potential owners of the security system, namely: it will allow you to start choosing a device with more confidence, as well as to control the installation of equipment in the installation center.

    Installing a car alarm is a long and laborious process that requires a specialist to have a high level of training and, preferably, experience with cars similar to yours, because each manufacturer assembles its products using unique technologies. By allowing an unskilled or inexperienced worker to work, you risk either incorrect car alarm settings or damage to your car.

    The process of installing a car alarm can be divided into two stages: placement and connection system components, programming and diagnostics.

    Placement and connection

    To understand what it is, you need, first of all, to represent the features of the placement of the main components of a car alarm, including: a central unit, a transceiver module, an LED indicator, a siren and a temperature sensor.

    central block alarms are recommended to be placed in a hard-to-reach place in the car, for example, behind the dashboard. The central unit should be tightly fixed away from the heating elements of the heating system, as the unit is equipped with an interior temperature sensor. Otherwise, the operation of the system associated with the auto-start of the engine may be incorrect. The device has a fairly sealed case, which, in case of emergency, will allow you to place it outside the cabin. With this type of installation, check the position of the block: the block must be located with the connectors down.

    Transceiver module. One of the most important elements of the system. He is responsible for the availability and quality of communication between the control panel and the central unit. StarLine recommends placing this component on the windshield of a car or under the dashboard. At the same time, you should keep in mind some installation features: the device should be placed more than 5 cm from the metal elements of the body, the rain sensor or the light sensor, and it is also not recommended to place the module under the sun protection strip or tinting. Implementation of all recommendations will allow to achieve the maximum quality of communication between the control panel and the alarm system. The transceiver module contains shock and tilt sensors. For the correct operation of the sensors, the device should not be placed on the plastic elements of the car.

    Thus, the most reliable place for the transceiver is the windshield.

    Led indicator- this is the part of the system that is responsible for registering the active or inactive security mode. When the mode is active, the LED indicator will light up at regular intervals; when doors are opened or an alarm is triggered, the flicker frequency will increase significantly. You can place the indicator anywhere in the car interior. The only recommendation: the indicator should be clearly visible when you are outside the car.

    Siren This is the first line of defense for your vehicle. If unauthorized access is attempted, the siren will start emitting a loud signal, drawing attention to the car. The correct installation of this car alarm component must be carried out in accordance with the following recommendations:

    • the horn of the siren should be pointing down. This will prevent moisture ingress;
    • the device should be placed at a considerable distance from the exhaust manifold and other heat sources;
    • the wires connecting the siren with the central unit should not be accessible when penetrating under the car;
    • when connecting an autonomous siren, you should install an additional 3-amp fuse, as well as provide easy access to the keyhole to turn it off;
    • wiring must not touch moving parts.

    Engine temperature sensor. A small and simple device, on which the quality of the engine autostart system depends. An incorrectly installed sensor will result in either insufficient warm-up or excessive engine run time. It is recommended that the sensor be secured with zip ties to the coolant hose (small circle hose) or using existing threaded connections near the engine block (not on the exhaust manifold side). You should also check that the metal case of the temperature sensor is not squeezed by a bolt or any other fastener.

    In addition to placing components, must be properly connected(according to the wiring diagram that comes with each alarm) to the central car alarm unit. StarLine produces several types of central units, the differences of which are due to the generation of car alarms, the presence or absence of an autorun system, the type of connection to the car system (digital bus or analog). Connection of system components is carried out only after their final installation.

    In addition to those described above, the specialist must also follow some additional recommendations:

    • it is necessary to make sure that the electrical circuits of the car are in good condition;
    • check the car for errors (“Check engine”, “Airbag”, etc.);
    • all wires of the system must be located away from sources of electrical interference (ignition coil, high voltage wires, etc.);
    • all additional relays must be shunted with diodes;
    • when installing the hood and trunk limit switches, check that they work correctly: in the closed position, the gap between the sensor contacts should not be less than 3 mm. With a different value, the probability of false alarms is high.

    If you need more detailed information, we recommend that you refer to the specification of your device.

    Programming and diagnostics

    After installing and connecting the alarm, the programming and diagnostics stage takes place. Programming a car alarm means installing software in the central unit that will ensure the correct and coordinated functioning of the car alarm and the standard car system. The key to successful programming is the right choice of software, because the type of software depends not only on the functional features of the device you have chosen (availability of autorun, GSM, GPS, hood lock, blocking relay, etc.), but also on the type of car. To date, StarLine has developed software for more than three hundred car models sold in the Russian Federation. This step is especially important when connecting via digital CAN/LIN buses.

    Before handing over the car to the owner, it is necessary to check the operability of all systems. For example, if your device supports the autorun function, then most likely there should be programmable control systems for heated mirrors, windows and seats. Also, almost all StarLine systems carry out automatic folding of mirrors, control of the "see the driver" function, authorization via Bluetooth or PIN code. In other words, you should study the technical description of your device and check all systems. If something does not work, then most likely the problem is in programming.

    So, we briefly told you about the main aspects of the car alarm installation process. We hope the information received will help you find and carry out a high-quality installation of security equipment with.

    Among the pressing problems associated with car alarms, there is often a need to deal with its excessive sensitivity. Sometimes the sensitivity of the alarm is adjusted in such a way that as soon as you jump next to the car, the security siren will immediately turn on. This is not quite a normal situation, since you will have to pay attention to the car every time, and the neighbors will not say “thank you” for this. Therefore, if this problem is relevant for you, today we will learn how to reduce the sensitivity of the alarm.

    Possible reasons for high sensitivity

    Let's take as an example. If we consider why the alarm works all the time, then only two reasons can be noted:

    • The sensitivity setting of the starline a91 alarm is set to maximum;
    • shock and the signaling unit are poorly fixed, as a result of which a false siren activation is triggered.

    How to reduce the sensitivity of the starline alarm?

    If the problem was formed for the first reason, then you must proceed as follows:

    1. If you have a standard car alarm installed, look in the service book where the control unit and shock sensor are located. If the alarm was installed additionally, then you will have to work hard to find the controls. For example, you can navigate by the Valet button, see where the wires go from it. As a rule, the control unit is mounted in the area of the pedal assembly. Did you manage to find the location of the block? Great, let's move on...
    2. To reduce the sensitivity of the alarm, on the block you need to find the control element responsible for this function. By the way, the shock sensor can be integrated into the unit, or it can be a separate element. Set the sensitivity to a position slightly above average, you should not lower the sensitivity level to 4-5 units, in which case the car alarm may not work properly, or the sensitivity will be very weak and the alarm will not give a signal if someone decides to mutilate your car.

    As we have already said, sometimes the problem of frequent siren activation may not be due to the high sensitivity of the alarm at all. The reason may be incorrectly, or a poorly fixed control unit, or a shock sensor. To find out if this is causing problems, you will also need to find the sensor and control unit.

    Sensors must be screwed to a solid surface, not dangling, much less hanging. Check if you need to re-pin them for the problem to go away.

    Other High Sensitivity Alarm Problems

    If you were able to adjust the sensitivity of the alarm, if the control unit and the shock sensor are well fixed, but the problem has not disappeared anywhere, and the car also squeaks at the slightest pretext, then the reason lies in the malfunction of the sensor. Here, you are unlikely to be able to cope on your own, so it’s better not to feel nervous, but to contact a specialist so that he points out the real reason for what is happening. It may be necessary to replace the sensor, or it is possible to install a new control unit, which may not be very cheap.

    Starline A91 is one of the most popular car alarms in Russia. The great demand for it is supported by a combination of a large number of technical advantages with a moderate price. One of these advantages is the Starline A91 two-level shock sensor, which is triggered if the body of the car collides with an external impact on it.

    The sensor is protected from false positives by a special protection that protects it, among other things, from the effects of electromagnetic interference. To reduce the number of erroneous reactions, the correct sensitivity setting of StarLine A91, which is carried out immediately after the signaling is installed on the car, helps.

    The Starline anti-theft system is distinguished by the presence of wide functionality:

    • special protection of the control panel;
    • reduced sensitivity to radio wave interference;
    • autostart of the motor in different modes at a distance;
    • effective sensitivity of the "friend or foe" system;
    • high-capacity battery that does not require frequent replacement.

    In addition to the above, the system reliably operates in a wide temperature range from -45 to +85 degrees, which is extremely important for the domestic climate.

    The control is carried out using the 2 key fobs included in the kit, each of which is able to influence the device from a distance of 600 meters.

    The efficient and correct operation of the entire StarLine system largely depends on the correct connection of two key fobs to the alarm system. For which you need to follow a series of steps:

    1. Find the Valet service mode switch in the car, which allows you to enter the settings - it looks like a regular button and is often located under the glove box, steering wheel, or in the fuse box.
    2. To activate the system, the service mode switch is pressed seven times with the engine off.
    3. Immediately after this, turn off the ignition and wait for seven siren beeps, indicating the correctness of the actions performed.
    4. Turn on the key fob by simultaneously pressing the keys numbered two and three - another signal will testify to its connection.

    The second key fob is connected in the same way as the first.

    The system may not work correctly for various reasons, but the main ones are:

    • incorrect setting of the shock sensor itself;
    • unsuitable place for mounting the device;
    • incorrectly fixed sensors and a signal unit in the body of the car.

    The control unit is used to adjust the sensitivity of the sensors.

    How to set up a Starline A91 alarm shock sensor from a key fob

    Starline A91 has piezoelectric elements with regulators that are adjusted using a screwdriver, which they are rotated clockwise. In order to correctly adjust the parameters, they are guided by the explanations drawn on the body of the gadget - they indicate the direction of movement to decrease or increase sensitivity. Additionally, green and red LEDs help in determining the moment of operation.

    Also, sensitivity adjustment is carried out using key fobs that serve as control panels. Each of them has a display with a two-way communication unit. During autostart programming, additional settings are made. In particular, it is set to ignore the running motor or starter at the moment of rotation.

    A full adjustment of the sensitivity of the sensors of the Starline A91 system looks like this:

    1. First of all, the ignition on the car and the security mode are turned off.
    2. Next, click on the button adjacent to the one on which the round icon is drawn.
    3. The success of the actions performed will be evidenced by two alarm siren alarms and triple flashing of the headlights.
    4. In turn, the key fob emits a melodious signal and its indicator displays an indication of what level of the sensor's warning zone has already been programmed: by default it is 10.
    5. Now the car owner can independently specify the desired parameter in the range from 0 to 14. To do this, he uses the buttons with triangular icons on the remote control.
    6. To adjust the level of anxiety in the car, hold down the same key as in the second paragraph until a beep sounds. Then they click on it a second time, but for a short time.
    7. If the actions are successful, the already set sensitivity value appears on the display, which is equal to five by default. Correct it in the same way as the warning zone.
    8. Saving the settings occurs through clamping to the signal and pressing the same key again as above.

    Three siren trips and three headlight flashes will testify to the success of the manipulations. The preset melody will also sound on the remote control.

    How to turn on the shock sensor

    The inclusion of impact sensors alarms Starline A91 and A93 occurs after their installation. When all sensors are connected, the car owner needs to arm the car, disarm it and re-arm it.

    When the security mode is on, without disabling it, you can activate the device from the key fob. To do this, you need to hold down the corresponding button until the signal. It is also possible to use an application for smartphones for this purpose.

    How to increase sensitivity

    The sensitivity of the anti-theft system is adjusted using the controls mentioned above, which are turned counterclockwise with a screwdriver as far as they will go. As for the adjustment of the warning level, for this the corrector is turned by a third.

    You can only adjust the sensitivity when the security mode is off. The car door must be open. After each turn, the force of influence on the body is checked at which the sensor is triggered. To do this, light blows are applied to the body cover or its central pillar.

    Checking the correct operation of the reconfigured sensors occurs when the security mode is on. After activating it, they wait up to a minute so that the sensor can work with the new settings.

    As for the increase in the alarm level, this occurs according to the same procedure. It is important to remember that the value of the alarm level cannot be less than the warning zone. Otherwise, the sensors will not work correctly.

    How to reduce sensitivity

    The sensitivity of the sensors can be reduced. Do this with a key fob with the ignition off. First of all, press the button to enter the settings menu five times. After that, turn the key in the lock and reactivate the ignition. Next, they find buttons with triangular icons and use them to select the section for adjusting additional channels. It is lettered as "SF".

    In the latter, select the item responsible for the operation of the engine, and hold down the key located at the one marked with a round icon until a beep sounds. After it, the button is released and pressed again for a short time. As a result, it should be possible to select functions - using the key marked with a triangular icon, select the third one.

    The value of the sensitivity mode is set by the security button. The car owner can either completely turn off the sensors by setting the zero value, or temporarily reduce it only for the duration of the power plant. Test runs and warm-ups of the latter are used to find out if the adjusted level is suitable.

    Saving the memory parameters is carried out through the same button presses as when entering the settings menu for additional channels. After that, turn off the ignition. Three flashes of headlights and a triple sound of a siren testify to the success of the manipulations. At this time, the programmed value appears on the remote control, after which it switches to the standard time display mode.

    How to disable the shock sensor Starline A91

    The need for shutdown arises from the increased frequency of false positives due to external factors.

    The most common such factor is the remote start of the engine - vibrations from it are perceived by the installation as an attempt to penetrate the vehicle interior. Therefore, the most relevant is the temporary shutdown of the sensor at such moments.

    Disabling the shock sensor Starline A91 occurs by double pressing the button on the key fob, indicated by the icon of a closed lock. In response, the external light alarm of the machine will flash twice, and the remote control will make a melodious sound. The DAT1 parameter will be displayed on the display of the latter, indicating that the warning sensitivity level has temporarily turned off.

    To turn off the alarm level, you must double-click on the same key. Headlights and a siren will give a triple signal in response, indicating the success of the manipulations. The DAT2 parameter will appear on the display.

    The mechanical way to turn off the sensor involves turning the sensitivity regulator with a screwdriver to the minimum level. You can also set the zero level in the setup menu. In this case, it is strictly not recommended to turn off the sensor by disconnecting the wires.

    What to do if the shock sensor is triggered for no reason

    The most common problem that owners of a Starline alarm system with a shock sensor face is a false alarm. It occurs even for devices that are installed quite recently. As a result, the sensor works by itself and the alarm yells, although there is no one nearby.

    To fix the problem, the first step is to figure out what the harbingers of the appearance of a false signal were. Did this happen at a time when other people's cars were passing nearby. Or during certain weather events.

    The time of day when such excesses occur plays a role. And also how often they happen. In some cases, a false alarm occurred when the car's handbrake was on. All the details are important for an accurate clarification of the reasons.

    Most often, the root cause lies in the incorrect configuration of the system. At the same time, such errors often begin to manifest themselves only after some time. The only way to fix it is to set up the sensors again, starting from the beginning. Often this is also the reason that even with an additional sensor installed, the system sees only SH-1, and the first one does not work.

    Another problem is the violation of the design of the sensor or module associated with external damage or wear. Replacing or repairing broken parts will help fix the problem. The signal is also triggered due to the interception of radio waves when the module and sensor loops are close to each other. To eliminate - just dilute them.

    If the sensor is constantly turned off, then the reason may lie in the wrong mount. For the latter, I use plastic, which is deformed and destroyed due to impacts or other external influences. The plastic mount can be replaced with a metal one.

    Moisture and condensation can also lead to flaws in the operation of the gadget. Water gets on the circuits, which leads to short circuits. The main way to get rid of it is the maximum isolation of those sections of the electrical circuit that are prone to the accumulation of condensate.

    The best way to test the health of newly installed sensors is to check for minimum sensitivity. If the reaction is observed even at the minimum settings, then the system will probably have to be replaced.

    Price alarm shock sensor Starline A91

    The average cost of the SS 205 sensor designed for the Starline A91 anti-theft device ranges from 400-500 rubles. Used options can be purchased for a hundred rubles cheaper.

    False alarms from the sound of a passing car or from thunder are the result of incorrect settings of the Starline shock sensor. Inside the device there is a sensitive element that perceives vibrations. An additional electronic unit allows you to change the sensitivity of the element depending on the operating conditions.

    Working principle and functions

    The A91 car alarm includes a special piezoelectric sensor that is attached to the metal panels of the vehicle body. On the A93 model, a 3-axis accelerometer integrated into the transceiver unit began to be used. The sensor detects shocks that occur when trying to enter the car interior or dismantle parts (for example, wheels). The sensor responds to an external disturbance and gives a signal that triggers the alarm.

    The user can independently configure the sensor for the Starline A91 or A93 alarm by adjusting the threshold for the warning and alarm levels. On early models of alarms, the adjustment is made by rotating a mechanical regulator, on later versions (with an accelerometer), electronic adjustment has been introduced. Depending on the settings of the parameters, the impact force is determined, at which the security complex gives a warning signal with a siren or activates the alarm mode.

    How to connect

    The sensor is attached to the metal body panel in the passenger compartment with screws or 2-sided adhesive tape.

    It is not recommended to install the element on moving plastic parts or vehicle wiring harnesses due to a decrease in measurement accuracy.

    The device is placed openly, which provides access to the rotary elements for adjusting the sensitivity of the shock sensor. The accelerometer is located together with the transceiver unit on the inner surface of the windshield (at a distance of 50 mm from the metal elements of the body).

    The wiring harness (consisting of 4 wires) is led out under the trim of the vehicle interior. To connect to the connector of the processor unit, a standard harness block is used. To switch the transceiver unit, a plug with 5 cables is used; on the processor unit, the block is installed in the X8 connector.

    How to setup

    The adjustment of the operating parameters of the piezoelectric element is carried out by turning the knobs with a screwdriver clockwise. Explanatory icons are applied on the body of the device, indicating the direction of rotation when the threshold is raised or lowered. Additional red and green LEDs allow you to visually determine the moment of operation when setting up the Starline A91 shock sensor.

    On the A93 complex, you can adjust the sensitivity through the control panel equipped with a display and a 2-way communication unit. An additional adjustment is made when programming the automatic start, allowing you to ignore vibrations from a spinning starter or a running power unit.

    To adjust the sensitivity of the sensor on the A93 or A63 complexes, you must perform the following steps:

    1. Disable the security mode and ignition, and then press the button located next to the key that has an icon in the form of a circle.
    2. After receiving signals on the machine, the sirens will sound 2 times and the external light alarm will flash three times. The keyfob will play a melody, and an indication of the programmed level of the sensor warning zone will be displayed on the upper part of the display. Level 10 is programmed from the factory, the user sets the parameter in the range from 0 (disabled) to 14 (maximum). The buttons marked with triangles are used to change the number.
    3. To proceed to adjusting the alarm level, the key mounted next to the button with the emblem in the form of a circle is pressed until the sound signal is heard. Then you need to briefly act on the button again. After a light signal and a melody, the current sensitivity value appears on the display (05 with factory adjustment). The adjustment is made in the same way.
    4. Save the settings by pressing until the beep and again briefly pressing the button used to start programming. The processing unit will confirm the success of the completion of the procedure by giving a triple signal by the external lighting lamps and a double beep by the siren. Additionally, a melodic signal is given by the buzzer of the control panel.

    How to reduce the sensitivity of the Starline alarm

    To reduce the sensitivity on the A93 or A63 complexes at the time of autorun operation, you will need to perform the following steps:

    1. Turn off the ignition, and then press the button to enter the menu 5 times, with which the Starline alarm is configured. Turn the key in the lock, activating the ignition circuits.
    2. Using the keys with triangle symbols, select the SF section responsible for adjusting additional channels.
    3. Select the channel responsible for the operation of the power unit, and then long press the button located near the key with the icon in the form of a circle. After the signal is given, the button is released and then pressed again briefly.
    4. Using the buttons with the triangle symbol, function 3 is selected. To select the mode value, use the arming button, which scrolls through the possible options in a circle. The design of the security complex allows you to temporarily reduce the sensitivity during engine operation or completely turn off the sensors. The correctness of the setting is checked during trial runs and engine warm-ups.
    5. After programming the required parameter, it is required to press for a long time, and then briefly, on the key used when entering the settings of the additional channel.
    6. For the final exit, you will need to turn off the ignition. After 3 flashes of light signaling, the remote control display will show the value of the programmed function. After the melody is played, the key fob switches to the standard mode with the indication of the current time.

    How to increase sensitivity

    It is possible to adjust the sensitivity of the A91 alarm according to the algorithm:

    1. Turn the knobs fully counterclockwise.
    2. Adjust the warning level by turning the corrector 1/3 of the way. The setting is made with the driver's door open and the security mode turned off.
    3. The owner periodically checks the force of impact on the body, at which the shock sensor is triggered. The threshold is determined by applying light blows to the B-pillar or roof of the body. To check, you need to activate the security mode and wait 15-60 seconds (depending on settings) to turn on the sensor
    4. Set the alarm level according to a similar algorithm. When changing the alarm sensitivity setting, remember that the value of the warning zone should not exceed the alarm level setting.

    How to disable

    Disabling the shock sensor is used to reduce the number of false positives caused by external factors. At the moment of remote or automatic start of the power unit, the security complex turns off the sensor, since the vibration from the running engine is perceived by the sensor as an attempt to enter the car interior. When setting the operation parameters of additional channels, it is allowed to set the parameter with temporary disabling of the impact sensitivity sensor.

    To disable the shock sensor on Starline A91 or A93, you will need to press the remote control button 2 times, indicated by the icon of a closed lock. The car will respond with a double signal of the external light alarm, the key fob will give a melodic signal, and the text DAT1 will be displayed on the display, indicating a temporary deactivation of the warning sensitivity level. When the button is pressed twice again, triple signals are emitted by lamps and a buzzer, and then the alarm level is turned off. The text DAT2 appears on the display.

    The car owner can turn off the sensor by turning the sensitivity control to the minimum position. On the A93 complex, it is required to set the zero value through the setup menu. Disabling the shock sensor on Starline A91 by disconnecting the cable harness from the processor unit is not recommended.

    Increasingly, all kinds of security systems appear in private houses, cottages, offices, and apartments. These can be intercoms, access control and video surveillance systems, sound and light alarms.

    This is due to the natural desire of a person to ensure safety for himself and his family, and one of the most effective methods to secure your home or cottage is to install a security alarm.

    At the same time, the high-quality operation of the system largely depends on the high-quality installation, adjustment and configuration of all its components.

    On the importance of fine-tuning the security system

    One of the most annoying burglar alarm failures is a false alarm. The most common cause of this failure is a misconfiguration.

    The fact is that the security system interacts with the environment through various sensors that perceive external influences and send a signal to the electronic control unit. Further, the control unit, having processed the perceived signal from the sensor, sends a command to turn on one or another type of protection or alert.

    In any type of alarm, from security to fire, setting up sensors that respond to external influences is the most important procedure in the process of installing the system and putting it into operation. Among the adjustable parameters, special attention should be paid to sensitivity.

    What can happen if the alarm system is set up incorrectly? In short, such an alarm will not adequately respond to environmental factors. The system will either operate too frequently, reacting to minor external influences, or ignore serious hazards.

    This can be well illustrated by the example of a fire alarm. Incorrectly adjusted sensitivity may result in triggering due to match ignition. On the other hand, insufficient sensitivity will cause the alarm not to work even in the event of a serious fire.

    The same principle is true for burglar alarms. She should not raise the alarm because of a cat passing by, while at the same time adequately responding to real attempts of unauthorized entry.

    Since the alarm is triggered as a result of the perception of surrounding events by certain sensors, it is necessary to understand which sensors are involved in the security system.

    Understanding the role of sensors is also necessary because the sensitivity of the alarm depends on the sensitivity of the sensor. It is with the setting of these elements that the alarm sensitivity setting begins.

    Types of sensors and their purpose

    Security alarm sensors are used to monitor the status of:

    • windows (triggered by breaking glass or opening a window),
    • walls (control the integrity of the wall and work when breaking through),
    • the internal volume of the room (they react to a change in volume if someone entered the room, and also register movement in the room),
    • perimeter (exercise control over the perimeter of the protected area).

    Sensors can react to signs of the appearance of strangers in a protected area in different ways, depending on the design. Such signs include, in particular: temperature change, fluctuations, impact, sound, fracture, rupture, opening, movement.

    The principle of operation of the simplest sensors is based on interrupting the electrical circuit. For example, one part of the sensor is installed on the door or window, and the other part is installed on the frame. These two parts of the sensors can be connected electrically, galvanically or in some other way.

    When a door or window is opened, this connection is lost, this event generates an alarm signal, which is sent to the alarm control unit and turns on the alert. Such sensors require minimal adjustment, since they have two main modes of operation: closed and open electrical circuit.

    For the smooth functioning of such sensors, it is enough just to install them correctly.

    However, there are other sensors, the principle of operation of which includes not only two operating positions - on and off, but more. Such sensors, as a rule, react to changes in air temperature in a protected room, changes in the volume of space, sound, and so on.

    In such sensors, a threshold value of the influencing factor is set, above which the sensor sends an alarm signal to the electronic control unit. How to adjust the alarm sensitivity in this case? There are two main methods, which will be discussed below.

    Alarm setting

    If the burglar alarm is equipped with complex electronic sensors that respond to small changes in the environment, it is necessary to fine-tune them.

    The purpose of this operation is to ensure that false alarms are not generated and do not lead to false calls to first responders.

    There are two ways in which this goal can be achieved. The first way to set up is to set the allowable threshold on the sensor itself. This is done so that any external influence that has a level lower than that set on the sensor is ignored.

    For this setting, the sensors are equipped with special handles that allow you to adjust their sensitivity.

    It must be remembered that high-quality adjustment of the sensor is possible and will lead to the desired results only if the sensor is correctly installed. An incorrectly chosen sensor location will negate any effort to fine-tune it and will constantly lead to false alarms.

    The second way to set up a security alarm is to program the electronic control unit. With this setting, the alarm control unit sets the values of external influences, at which it gives a command to turn on the alarm siren or sends an alarm signal to the police post or private security.

    The sensors transmit the entire range of external influences, and the control unit analyzes them and, depending on the set parameters, takes further actions.

    This setting is made using special software included in the security alarm kit.

    Sometimes, in order to eliminate the consequences of incorrect system settings, it is necessary to reset the alarm settings. After such a reset, it will be necessary to reconfigure all adjustable parameters of the security system control unit software.

    Whom to entrust the alarm setting

    Although it may seem that setting the parameters for triggering a burglar alarm is a matter that does not require special skills, this is far from the case.

    The initial or rough adjustment is usually made taking into account factory requirements and average values, which are indicated in the passport and the operating manual of the security system.

    However, in a design office, it is impossible to take into account all the factors that will affect the system in real conditions. Therefore, many parameters must be adjusted on site, and this has to be done empirically.

    In order to make such a setting, it is necessary to have significant experience and understanding of the essence of the processes that affect the operation of the alarm. Most likely, only specialists involved in the installation and maintenance of security systems have such experience.

    The variety of sensors and the complexity of the burglar alarm device encourage you to seek help in installation and configuration from specialists. On the other hand, such a variety expands the scope of burglar alarm systems, and also significantly increases the efficiency of their application.

    A properly selected and finely tuned burglar alarm can provide maximum protection for property from intrusion by unauthorized persons.
